Use the app a soft murmur.

Also get your hearing checked at the docs, they’ll give you white noise generators- it takes time but it trains your brain to listen to a different sound.

Look at the nhs website. It tells you all you need to know. Bottom line though, see a GP.

Suffer really bad with tinnitus

Had meners disease about 10 years ago, basically blood starvation to inner ear, causing like vertigo symptoms,

Took me 2 months to learn to walk again properly,

Specialist said nothing they can do for it,

Was told never to work at heights again

And don’t ride motorcycles anymore,

Well no way was I giving up my bikes,

Started out on push bikes n kept falling off them lol

But I’ve learnt to get on with it

Good that you are on the road to recovery somewhat.

I ignore it for like weeks/months, but then it get me for a few days/weeks.

Suffering really badly with mine at present, you have my sympathy.

Left ear is worse, years of gunfire and raves/clubs.

Spine to a hearing clinic about the Lenire device but it’s very expensive and only 50% chance of success.

I find that if I’ve had a particularly stressful few days and my neck is stiff then it makes it worse. There is a lower skull/neck massage that can be done by yourself.. I book in for a proper sports massage and that helps.

Frowned upon as illegal but been told that some party chemicals can help to dull the noise for a while.

Im very similar to you….A life playing bass without ear protection, don’t like silence due to intrusive thoughts (caused by PTSD) so always have something on (tv/radio/podcast/spotify) and now the tinnitus is starting to dominate…..

Have a hearing test, can be associated with hearing loss. As long as its on both sides it's not a concern as such, but if it's suddenly got louder or changed in nature, disturbing sleep or associated with stress/anxiety,pulses with your heart, one sided or suddenly louder in one side then it needs referred for.

There's many types of noise you can try to distract, resound gn do a good app to help.

There's been several forum posts on tinnitus over the years and some of them might be helpful if you can find them.

Reducing stress can be helpful. I have it 24/7 and hate it. It gets worse for me, when exposed to greater noise levels, especially if for extended periods of time, so I avoid it.

Exercise helps me a lot.

Potentially get your ears checked and hearing

As soon as you think of it it gets 'louder'. The volume is always the same but distracting your mind from it shifts your attention from it....

I've found temporary relief from symptoms by using the finger flicking technique on the base of the skull.

Put your hands up to the back of your head, middle fingers meeting each other, and place your index fingers on top of your middle fingers. Then snap the index fingers onto the skull.

If you go to youtube and search "watch?v=YyT9ZwWy5Jc" you'll see a chap demonstrate.

Works for a little bit for me.

I developed tinnitus after long term (6 weeks) intravenous antibiotics treatment - a side effect apparently. I have tinnitus constant high pitched noise 24/7 and have had it for about a year.

Had a hearing test which showed hearing loss at high pitch in one ear which I suspected.

Referred to the doctor, saw him and referred to hospital for a more complete check up.

The waiting list is over 12 months so I've been stuck with the problem waiting to see the specialist hopefully in 2 or 3 months time.

Most of the day I can ignore it but sometimes it is just there and very annoying.

Worth getting it checked out by a dr. There is a small chance it can be caused by brain tumor. I have intermittent tinnitus. It’s usually worse in winter and is caused by mucus in the inner ear. I’m lucky I have low level background hum but manage to tune it out most of time.

I've had severe tinnitus for 23 years now. I have meniears disease. Don't ignore it. I now wear hearing aids and am partially deaf. I can't drive due to the vertigo and generally don't go out alone. ( which is why i wont meetsolo either) So please don't ignore it as it can get worse. Cutting out alcohol and salt helps. Medication helps and keeping my blood pressure at a good level helps. Goes without saying, don't smoke. Meniears doesn't get cured sadly. But can be managed.

Best thing is to not worry ( so see gp) and the more toy think about the tinnitus the worse it feels at times. There's a sickening high suicide rate amongst sufferers.

Given it’s coupled with recurrent vertigo, I saw my GP and awaiting a referral to ENT to investigate as it may be Menieres. So it’s always worth seeing the GP. But nothing works for me either now, but there’s some stuff on this thread I’ve not tried so defo going to give it a go so thanks

National library of medicine study shows tinnitus has increased twofold since 2020. It would be interesting to see results comparing the vaccinated to unvaxinated. I've not suffered but many of my close friends started suffering within a couple of months of being vaccinated.

Currently sat in waiting room for my audiology review.

Let’s hope that this referral can find a way to give me some relief.

For some other points above.

Had tinnitus before Covid, before vaccination.

Toxins have little to do with it. Damage to nerves and hairs much more relatable.

Even if they can tame it down a level or two it would be an improvement.

Do you have pain with it? What you describe sounds like trigeminal neuralgia. There is a specific neuropathic medication for it. Obviously the GP will advise accordingly.

The list of things that cause tinnitus or have tinnitus alongside is endless, they do not know what causes it truly only what we see as symptoms alongside, luckily they are getting somewhere with research though so fingers crossed one day there may be a resolve for it

"I’ve had it on one side since Covid.

It affected the nerves on that whole of that side of my face.

Some days are worse than others.

Thankfully the visual migraines and numb feeling have gone away, but it still varies between “fridge” and “drill” annoying noise.

Do you have pain with it? What you describe sounds like trigeminal neuralgia. There is a specific neuropathic medication for it. Obviously the GP will advise accordingly. "

Oh you're good!! 😁 Certainly symptoms sound similar 🤔

They won't put me on hrt as I don't have hot flushes or night sweats

So sorry about that. Some docs are really rubbish. I had to go private to be recommended for hrt. I get that the longer you can wait the better it is for you in the long teem. But when you have a history of problems it can be the only solution. Good luck for the future. Xx

"I don't usually do this as I'm not the "man flu" type, but this tinnitus is driving me crackers most of the time I can blank it out but last three days it's got me.Tried white noise etc.

Any tips ?

I’ve had it since late teens but suddenly it became much worse, from being able to ignore it at first to going to the doctors having had no sleep or rest for days. I used to drive 30 miles to work with the radio so loud just to try and drown it out and have some respite from it. I was given white noise in ear generators however I found them to be no help. I have moderate hearing loss now however I was denied a hearing aid because they said it would amplify the whistling I suffer. Personally I have found nothing that really helps however I’m convinced exhaustion makes it worse for me. I hope you find something that works for you and good luck.

"I tried calling the Tinnitus helpline, but it just kept ringing.

(Sorry, couldn't stop myself )"

Haha, I suffer too but that made me laugh.
