It would be interesting to see what kind of person you was in school, where you popular, unpopular or complemently unknown at school?

I wasnt super popular, with this I mean everyone knows you, but I was popular in the class and the group of friends that I hanged out with. I remember how we always played different sports during the break from football to tennis, good times

I wasn't popular at all I was the weird kid who was taller than most of the boys and listened to weird music and wore trousers for the last year in protest even though as girls we weren't allowed to wear trousers.

Even though I wasn't popular it's surprising how many people from school have tried adding me on the FB,I didn't like them at school so why would I like them now 🤷‍♀️ I have a few friends I have kept in contact with and like it that way my circle is small but genuine.

I was invisible at school. I was an average student and wasn't involved in sports.

I had a small group of 3 or 4 friends and that was about it.

So much so that in all the years since leaving school if I meet and recognise an old classmate they have no idea who I am.

Even when I tell them my name they have no memory of me ever being in the same class.

Only one remembered me but he knew me by an old nickname and had no idea what my name was.

Besides a few subjects and certain teachers , I enjoyed School especially for the sports.

I was a headstrong kid and had many visits to the Headmaster where he introduced me to the cane. I didn’t try to fit in but was generally accepted .

Was never going to be a pin up for the girls though ☹️

When (and where) I was at school, the American "popular" notion had not made it yet. In primary school, we were all from very similar backgrounds, a lot of "key on the neck" type of kids, with working parents and a "designated neighbour" checking in on us from time to time. I was definitely very noticeable, as I was second tallest in my class and had to use crutches for a while. I was also very good academically and nobody dared tease me, as most needed some help from me.

High school - different story as people were from different backgrounds, coming from different parts of town, but it was school with "traditions", and was dealing with any issues between students promptly. Again, as I was very good academically, I did not have any issues. Can't say I was popular, unless help was needed with homework.

Also, we had to respect our teachers as if we complained to our parents about being told off, or punished, by our teachers, we were punished again by our parents.

Middle of the road for me, I had a good few friends at school, never really got into trouble.

Got into drinking in my last year at secondary school. A mate’s dad had _oxes of home made beer in the garage and didn’t notice it disappearing at an alarming rate. Did a couple of GSCE exams while d*unk.

My mates got into smoking and wacky baccy and that was a step too far from me, so I drifted away from them. Thankfully, I quit the drink at the same time.

No I wasnt popular. I had one good friend that was it really. I liked sports but wasn't really good at them . I was middle of the road in school work and the lower lower end of popularity.

I was bullied by one guy in my class who actually tried to break my arm one day until another student stopped him. But ye school was just another stage to get through and I've never gone back for any reunions or stayed in touch with anyone from there. I was glad to see the end of it.

I wasn't popular but not unpopular, I kind of floated about between different groups. My best friend was one of the most popular girls in school but I didn't move in those circles with her if that makes sense. I didn't like the fakeness of it all. My brother was extremely well known as he was part of a big gang. It was weird growing up as I rarely got into trouble or arguments mostly due to the fact that everyone seemed to know who I was but I had no idea who they were 🤣. I always got recognised as "brothers names sister" no one knew my name but they knew who I was. Constantly got hit on by my brothers friends probably because of the taboo of it rather than they actually fancied me, having said that a few blokes from my brothers friend group got "sorted out" simply for flirting with me. I usually had no idea it had happened until after when they saw me in public and had black eyes or a broken nose and avoided me like the plague when they were all over me before 🤣.

I hated it as I never got a real chance to make proper friends as almost everyone knew my brother and kept away for fear of upsetting him. A few girls tried to get chummy with me to get with him but I usually saw straight through that and pushed them aside.

So it was weird for me growing up and at school and through my early 20s, I dont know how to compare it to others idea of "popularity" as a result.

Due to life circumstances socialising has been difficult to do over the last decade so I can t really say whether I'm still unpopular outside of this place. I've always been an outsider who people don't tend to like unless they get to know me and spend time with me in person.

Of course not. I was a Maverick Tomboy. I avoided most of the drama and fights.

That said, I moved around different cliques and groups. I do my own thing so peer pressure doesn't work on me.

I watched tennis with the posh kids

I played football and cards with the boys.

I went to basketball games and parties and hang outs.

I was liked enough, but no core group of friends.

I'm still friends with a few peopel from secondary school.

Primary school was extremely challenging for me. It was all girls, and I was a tomboy who wore glasses and had odd parents. Lol! Also, my parents never let me do any extracurricular activities in primary school. I had more bullying in primary school than secondary school.

I was a prefect in both. I was a good kid according to teachers. Lol! Oh no if they could see my immoral self now. Lol!

Not sure youd class it as popular but I used to have a lot of mates but I also think thats down to the fact I have 6 brothers and 2 sisters , so our friend circle was pretty big , we were all pretty sporty too which I beleive gives you an automatic large friends circle , my dad and uncles ware kinda well known in our area also !! I had no desire to be a sheep following the 'in' crowd. Besides, peaking socially at 16 seems a bit tragic. Most people haven't even figured out who they are yet at that age.

I am happy that I was a late bloomer. The good news is I am still not popular and as woman in my 50's give zero fucks what other people think of me.

I can’t really say if I was popular at school or not. I had friends in every year and got along with everybody. I was one of those that anyone could come to if something needed sorting or any issues they were having.

I’m actually still friends and in touch with a lot from school and I think I’ve remained the same throughout the years. Yes, I was amongst the ‘in crowd’ (as some have said), but I was the nice one and the one no one would dare cross.

Of course when in school, you’d also have friends outside of school who weren’t the best of influences and everyone wanted to be like them. But, I’m thankful I didn’t follow through that path and sometimes you still have to deal with the consequences of whatever you meddled in from the past.

You’ve got me reminiscing now OP.

I was known, not sure about popular. I played football with the lads and also hung out with the goths/emos/punks. I played Linkin Park on loudspeaker. I was in the drama club. I had cousins in every year. All the teachers knew me and my family because they taught them over decades.

However I was very close to a somewhat popular group from my local secondary school and some are still my best friends now. I wish I went to that school and not the one miles away

A lad in the street befriended me and was into Punk and turned me onto it and I then found my own way in life. Some of those bullies have since died, horrible deaths in fact. I was bullied a lot over how I look and because I was very intelligent, a little bit like the big bang theory but without the jokes.

I was also very good at sport but because I wasn’t in the gang they didn’t want me to play in the team however I wasn’t too good to leave out. I was also a lot more comfortable with much older people, which again was considered weird.

I was head boy in infant, junior lower school and 6th form. I got the winner in the cup final at Villa Park and they still got me off the team the next year by ignoring me on the pitch.

My brother has gone to reunions over the years but I wouldn’t set foot in the place.

That’s where my “masks” developed. I became an actor(not a real one) in life.

Actually one of my tormentors ended up on Eastenders, The Lion the witch and the wardrobe series of films and many more films and tv. He also lies about his age lol
