What is your gym motivation?

Jump to newest

By *hagTonight OP   Man

From the land of haribos.

There are many reasons to get movotivated to workout like, breakup gains, summer body, stress relief, instagram goals, mental health, routine and discipline.

It would be interesting to see the reason what your motivation to working out is? My motivation to workout is to have the summer body

Good post. My ex and I parted ways amicably last year, joined a gym straight after to look after my wellbeing and manage the process and emotions of breakup and new beginnings.

So I guess for me: general wellbeing, mental health, routine and discipline. Also to to help bring my blood pressure down and stay in shape.

Zero motivation for gym, I have to have a defined reason to exercise some ethereal concept of getting fitter or losing weight doesn't work for me. Getting involved in a competitive sport has, as did signing up for a half marathon to raise funds for a charity - but these are all targeted motivation

To stop being fat and unhealthy

(Used to be a fat 21+ stone)

Just happy being Kinda fit, kinda fat now

I would say through experience, motivation comes and goes it's habits and Consistency that make the biggest difference

You will never be 100% with gym or food, but 60-70% consitant is more than enough to make a big difference

Love the gym in the morning to get the body moving as I work remotely it's also a chance to meet people and have a chin wag. Made some good friends in there and sometimes the spa is a nice treat too.

I prefer running to going to the gym, but picking up a lot of annoying niggles when running, I'm finding the gym useful.

I only really do cardio, and my main motivation is that I enjoy pushing myself, seeing what I can do and how much I can improve over time. I love that feeling of beating a PB, or just feeling utterly knackered after a session. Showers after a good workout are the best showers (alone)

I do it just to look good and hopefully feel better about myself. Gym to build muscle, run for cardio health, HYROX for a bit of both and tone.

I also do it in the hope it give me more energy and drive as I have very little. Not sure it works. Or if it is, I dread to think how little I would have

Been going to the gym on and off for 30 years to keep in shape.. it's never worked as much as I want it too as I love rubbish food too much!

It's very addictive - feeling next day aches and seeing muscle definition build is amazing.

I join a class once a week to keep in touch with people - good friendly bunch

I think my motivation now is just looking in the mirror and seeing how much progress I've made compared to when I was quite slim and wanting to keep that up. I've put on a bit more fat as a result but overall I quite like my physique as it is. Also, getting a new PB on a lift is an incredible feeling and a high you always want to chase.

Used to live the gym, was good for my mental health and got me of the pills that numb everything.

Recently took on a renovation at work and just haven't found the time. Gained way too much weight. Stopped eating well and can't sleep.

Fair to say it is more effective and important than I realised but I now have gym anxiety. I know how much DOMS I'm going to get and how out of shape I am, so I'm putting off returning.

Discipline…

I hate going at times but have to drag myself there

It's so much easier than when I first started and I do actually really enjoy getting a sweat on. But i do sometimes get frustrated when I plateau for a few weeks. Gone from a size 36 to a size 20/22 and feel so much better for it 🥰"

I don’t think anyone really enjoys going but no one has ever come out the gym feeling worse than when they went in.

Well done you 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

"My motivation is weight loss and toning as I go. 112lbs down and still a ways to go yet but slowly, slowly and I will get there 💪

I think the trick is to find something you really enjoy. For me it's a combination of aqua circuits, badminton and lifting x

Oh crap am I suppose to be motivated when I go to the gym?

I usually go when I have over indulged, otherwise I just do mini workouts at home. Saves me gawping at what everyone else is doing or pumping, lifting and paying a membership for it

I don't like gyms much myself.

I do however walk a lots with my pooches and I do love yoga, it is amazing stress relief.

Gym motivation is 0/10. Yoga motivation about 6/10. Aikido motivation is about 9/10. I would like get cycling back into this list, once a week, but I just don’t have the time (and I know I have to make the time, but it really isn’t easy).

All over the place! Northwesr, , Southwest

Gym motivation is high. It's really helped in coping with a number of issues that have affected me greatly the past month.

The results only re-enforce this. I'm currently the slimmest I've been in years.
