I remember an interview with John Cleese a while back and he said there was a script that went into preproduction for a one off Christmas Special of Towers. Unfortunately the Lockerbie disaster happened so they had to shelve it as would be too sensitive. The plot saw the 4 of them board a plane to visit Manuel's family in Barcelona. The plane though, shortly after take off, gets hijacked by Basque Separatist terrorists. However, it doesn't take the terrorists long to realise they really, really have chosen the wrong plane!
