"Degrees don't mean shit the educational system is designed to keep us to have a S L A V E...mind. I run a successful 6 figure business I finish at college I was done when all my mates went off to uni I was busy earning when we used to go out they where always broke. and today they still broke they don't teach shit about money and business." What about medicine so? Is that being a s!ave & a waste of time? Fair play to you for being 'successful' without a 3rd level education. Sometimes it is required to do a job. Everyones path/personality is different & whichever one a person chooses is theirs. I dont think slating an education is necessary.

What gets me the most my friend is a GP doctor studying for 7 years or so gross annual turn over is £100k a year but ends up with £60k a year tax is ridiculous in this country me having my own business I earn way more then him because they are so many ways to pay less tax legally. It's a really really interesting subject but completing a masters while working full time nearly caused me to have a breakdown 😅 I was a bit broken by the time I finished. Trying to instill into my kid that having an education will never hinder you in life, not having one however, may" I think it depends on what you leave school to do. I did an apprenticeship in IT which has set up my career to date and got the necessary qualifications while working. I think even with an education, it's tough to ask an 18 year old to load themselves with debt for something that may not turn into a worthwhile career.

Doctors to save lives Engineers to design the infrastructure of our society Scientists to discover and invent new things that help our species progress You keep talking about money like it's the most important thing, yet fail to realise money is simply a tool that allows us to trade more easily between eachother...that's really all that it is, and the moment you realise that, that's when you stop becoming a S L A V E. You might make more money than a doctor, but there are O F models that fart in a jar and sell it, that make more money than you, so how you make money nowadays is irrelevant. Most People that pursue a career that requires a degree do so because they believe it will make their lives more fulfilling, not because they believe a degree will necessarily bring them more money.

"My brother is 23 and has a degree in linguistics. He can't find a job in anything other than hospitality/retail and he applies for so many just to not even hear back. I feel like the job market definitely is tougher these days and for younger people especially, as so many people have degrees it has devalued some of them. Unless you are doing a very specific degree that you need to do a particular job like a STEM subject, if you're young these days you are probably better off doing something like a work based apprenticeship which gives you experience as you learn. Some of these are degree level equivalent as well. Experience seems to be valued much more than *some* qualifications. Uni also isn't for everyone. I dropped out of uni when I was 20 and went into work in the organisation I am still working in, it was absolutely the right decision for me at that time as I really struggled at uni first time round for various reasons. I went back to uni later in life because I wanted to learn and did it for myself, but I have a good job that I worked my way up into over 14 years starting out on the bottom rung of my organisation and not having a degree hasn't affected my career trajectory in the slightest. " Yes there's still the mindset that some degrees offer good grounding therefore a wealth of opportunities when that isn't necessarily the case at all. Undergrad degrees like mine are so broad finding a graduate job is a minefield. I think it's why many turn to education because they can't think of anything else to do (then subsequently leave not long after - or are miserable). I know an accountant friend of mine places a huge value on apprenticeships as those individuals with them are mature (he says) and have experience in the job market.

I would say an apprenticeship was furthur education. May not be a degree, as per OP's theme but it is still furthur education. I also think you are very fortunate to know at 18 what you want to do as a career. Many dont and fall into various work. Some are lucky and it leads to bigger and better things. Some not so
