Oooh can't offer any insight but I will be following with interest. My son moves to London in January and will be working in Covent Garden, he tells me it's beautiful so I can't wait to explore London x" Nice. I like Covent Garden. There used to be an opera singer who sang at the bottom of a stairwell in the middle bit. She was amazing

" That’s already a lot to pack into one one day. South bank to Camden & city is a bit of travel You could go to a code y club at Covent Garden or Leicester Square in the evening

" You've probably got enough there, shard/Borough Market, Camden and Oxford Street aren't particularly close to each other, so you've potentially already filled a day, its easy to spend a few hours in Camden alone

" If you're going to Oxford Street then St Christopher's Place, a little thoroughfare between Oxford Street and Wigmore Street, always has really pretty lights at Christmas. Bond Street has nice lights too, probably nicer than Oxford Street tbh. Stella McCartney's shop in Old Bond Street usually has brilliant lights. It's a bit out of your way, but the Churchill Arms pub in Old Church Street, just off Kensington High Street, is always really beautifully decorated at Christmas. Remember the streets could get packed. Keep an eye on your bags. Roma gyppos abound in the West End. They are beggars, pickpockets and con artists. Any of them give you a rose don't take it, they'll want money for it. You've already got a great day out planned by the sound of it. Have fun.

There are second hand shops in the market but they are really expensive. Covent Garden is beautiful at Christmas time and closer to Oxford street than Camden is, no charity shops either though (these tend to be in less central locations)

There's a fair few vintage shops around Camden/West End/Shoreditch etc that would be worth a look.
