STI from oral

Has anyone ever caught an STI from sucking cock or know of anyone that has?

I'm dying to try it but scared of catching something. I keep seeing profiles calling out 'avoid (insert profile name here) had an STI' type thing

About Town

I tested positive for an oral STI once, so it definitely happens. Oral is safe, but not risk free. The thing is that nothing in swinging is risk free, so that's why regular testing is vital no matter how safe you play.

As for people naming and shaming, that's hugely problematic. If someone knowingly spreads an STI that's one thing, but nobody should feel worried or ashamed to go to previous partners and tell them if they test positive.

Whether it’s oral or penetration I insist on condoms and I make that clear from the off.

A clear test helps but no guarantee on any play since it being done.

A couple from Swansea in 1999 had Herpes from oral with strangers. They still continued meeting others without medication.

"A couple from Swansea in 1999 had Herpes from oral with strangers. They still continued meeting others without medication."

Medication only works during an outbreak.

There's no ongoing preventative treatment and many carriers are symptomless for years or forever.

70% of the UK population carry the virus.

Oral with condoms is like sucking a boiled sweet with the wrapper on.

Yep about 15 years ago I got something from giving oral to a woman no biggie was dealt with and stored our pronto. She was apologetic and all was good. These things happen potentially.

Also, the number of people who think genital herpes is disgusting but cheerfully admit to having coldsores is staggering.

Please report any users who do this -'I keep seeing profiles calling out 'avoid (insert profile name here) had an STI' type thing'.

You can only mitigate your risks for sexual health problems. Tests are only good for whichever infections are tested for and which are at the stage that would give a positive test result.

Condoms, Prep, against HIV and Doxy Pep, against Syphilis and chlamydia, less so against gonorrhoea. The latter now has a vaccine used to help prevent an infection. You can also vaccinate against some Hepatitis types. Or not have sex.

Testing regularly is important and it's a good idea to develop a relationship with STI services, improving your knowledge

Misread stis easily transmit through oral

Hiv is a bit different. Unless mouth sores or cuts. It's very unlikely to pass over

Throat cancer is one of the biggest risks from oral. HPV can live on skin for years undetected and its the strain that can cause cancer to develop

We all have great fun doing what we do here but it’s important to get tested regularly and should something nasty turn up it’s important to stop playing immediately and not risk exposing others to infection. It’s also incumbent upon us to tell other recent sexual partners if tested positive for an STI. Register with a local sexual health clinic. The clinics offer fantastic ( free) support and advice and the staff ( in our case at least) are very friendly, helpful and non judgmental.

STI such as syphilis can be orally passed on. It’s because there is an open sore within the mouth of an infected person so when your receiving a bj for example then it can be passed on

Spot on, many many years in fact, for those who might be interested just look up throat cancer rates in men. Many cases are believed to be the result of infection 20 years plus in the past and not due to smoking or drinking, and no, testing is pointless as most of us carry this virus already but for reasons unknown it develops into cancer in some carrying the virus.

Why did you try sucking a boiled sweet with the wrapper on? Absentmindedly forgot to take the wrapper off? Just wanted to see what it was like?

🤔😂😂

Yes, the Oxfordshire Sexual Health clinic that I go to regularly couldn’t be nicer. Lovely friendly helpful people and anything but judgmental and suggested several things (vaccinations, pills, helpful organisations) that I didn’t know about and wouldn’t have thought of asking for, based on their questions and what I said about my promiscuity and work.

Herpes viruses are incredibly common. An estimated 64% of people under age 50 carry HSV-1 (mostly oral herpes) , and about 13% of adults carry HSV-2 (mostly genital herpes) . In the UK, up to 70% of the population carries at least one strain of the virus.

Happens!

Seems many are ignorant to the fact unfortunately though, and don't test for it.

A nurse we know well 😉 told us it's probably the biggest spreader of std's in her experience.

I suggest to everyone to be a regular visitor to the clinic for your MOT's & look at preventative meds & vaccines too as condoms fail & for those who aren't using them.

Hep A, B

Gonorrhea

PrEP (HIV prevention)

Doxycycline taken within 72hrs of any unprotected sex for Chlamydia & Syphilis

Ask them if there's anything else that might apply to you.

Most people will carry the Herpes simplex virus especially if they have had chickenpox as a child, in most people it has no apparent issues, others get cold sores, I myself had shingles 3 times, and Bells Palsy, which are all attributed to the Herpes virus.

I was chatting to a 'straight' guy on here some time ago, he asked if I had been tested for HIV, when I told that I had, and I was negative, he replied by saying "I'm not meeting anybody who's had to go for a HIV test, I've never needed to and I've fucked lots of women and guys"... I'll leave you all to decide which of us you'd rather meet.

Why would it be neither?

It's far more responsible to be testing and to be testing regularly.

If you get tested for HIV then you are very likely to be testing for every STI at the same time which makes very good sense.

I test every three months, and they always test for hiv . If sooner meet the person who is tested for everything than the person who admits to meeting lots of others and doesn't test. Because how many people do the women he's meeting actually meet also.

Yes. It's very common. That's why there are checks every 3 or 6 months. I didn't even noticed I had it, just found out from the test report. So, yeah, very common.

And I have the men b vaccine (can reduce chances of gonorrhea)
