Is this stuff any good?

I was on it years ago.

Only take it for a short period of time,as long term use can give you stomach ulcers.

Avoid alcohol as well.

Just be careful using it mate.

Takes a couple days to build up in your system but yeah it’ll kick in eventually.

Do NOT take ibuprofen if you are taking Naproxen.

You MAY take paracetamol or codeine alongside Naproxen

I’ve just taken my Naproxen and struggled to get it down… took me 3 swallows

They usually prescribe it with Omeprazole to protect your stomach. You can that over the counter as an indigestion relief pill possibly a bit cheaper than a prescription.

It won't get you off your head if that's what you mean but it's a very good anti-inflammatory. Just make sure to take it after food others you'll have stomach issues as well to contend with

It's not even prescribed in the USA it's available without a prescription and it's as common as paracetamol over here..

zero issues it's very effective but people here think paracetamol works so it might be too strong if you're used to paracetamol

It's not a painkiller in the same way paracetamol is, it's an anti inflammatory drug.

Make sure you take it just after eating to help protect your stomach lining.

"It's not a painkiller in the same way paracetamol is, it's an anti inflammatory drug.

It targets inflammation and usually pain is due to nerves having pressure on or around it thus the pain killing function and it being effective for that usage.

Yes, that's why I said it's not a painkiller in the same way that paracetamol is. Paracetamol is believed to work on the central nervous system hence the two are effective for different things and can be taken together

As a lot of people have said already make sure you get PPI cover which protects the lining of your stomach(PPI's are the zoles omeprazole, pantoprazole.

Try and stagger your pain medication so take paracetamol when you get up. Eat something then take your Naproxen. It should give you better coverage.

Works in combo with diclofenac. It probably depends on your pain level I’ve been on it for ages and it only takes the edge off. It’s a lot stronger than regular ibuprofen.

Yes and no.. it has anti inflammatory properties and is usually taken with Omeprazole to reduce gastro issues. Both meds should be not be used long term. I’m prescribed it, but take very infrequently and prefer, when pain isn’t too bad to take tumeric, ginger etc and use ICE. But that’s just me.

Always take just after food imo. It will give you acid, should be something you can take for the acid though but can't remember what that's called.

It's basically like ibuprofen, so you can take it alongside paracetamol. But like others say, don't take it long term or exceed the dose.

If using that I would normally take them with paracetamol but not at the same time. So alternate, 2 hours after taking naproxen take paracetamol, then 2 hours after that vice versa.

I’m always surprised when you pick something up at the pharmacy like this in the UK they don’t automatically offer you the complementary drugs to look after your body.

Naproxen is a very good anti-inflammatory painkiller better than ibuprofen, but it’s not the only way to reduce inflammation and the related pain.

Naproxen is a non steroidal anti inflammatory medicine

Commonly prescribed for any inflammation like pain, good for short term use, however, be wary if u have renal impairment, and long term use in general can cause GI (stomach) irritation. Ur doc would have screened for all this anyway

It's ok, slightly stronger than ibuprofen but watch your gut if taking long term

I was prescribed it for sciatic pain. Unfortunately it didn’t mix well with other medication and I ended up going toxic. Ended up in hospital until it was out of my system. The consultant there wrote a very strong letter to GPs reminding them not to issue alongside this other medication. Said I was the fifth person that week to suffer toxicity.

Nope bad news ibuprofen on steroids extremely damaging to your stomach and a very toxic medication I was on them for 1 month and got diagnosed with celiac disease straight after probably triggered by the nuproxin better and safer with opioid pain killers as its natural although some people can get addicted to them but won't cause your stomach to get ulcers and bleed

Ignoring the steroids, Naproxen is a severe gastro-irritant and ideally you should be taking it with someone else like Omeprazole to ameliorate the effects.

But I used to know people who took steroids as far back as the 90s. I also, obviously, have some bio-medical experience.

Don't take steroids unless medically advised. Work on your personality. Steroids are not going to help. Anyone in a long term relationship with someone on them can testify to that.

Depending on whether is is appropriate, friends I know who suffer from severe neuralgia (from degenerative disease or cancer) have found EM therapy (e-stim for medical purposes ) to be quite helpful for at least temporary relief. But based on your situation - YMMV.

I can't use it. Made me have hallucinations. Be careful with it, definitely don't drink alcohol.

Somewhere Over The Rainbow..

I used to have it for knee pain.. it stripped the lining of my stomach. I had hiccups for over a week. It's amazing for pain.. but I'll never touch them again.

I was prescribed them last year and they did the same to me as well, I had them prescribed 3 times a day, so I ended up switching to 2 a day because I found that if I took three a day and took the last one around 8pm I couldn't sleep so now I only take two, one around 10am and one around 4pm that way I'm still able to sleep.

I was prescribed it for a few years for arthritis. It really messed up my stomach and actually wasn't that effective.

They should have prescribed stomach protection drugs too - eg Lansoprazole.
