...and the government's are letting them.

The combination of the new Charter (which member states will have to abide by) and the new Global sharing of digital health information (think COVID passport gone power mad) and soon we will be being told what to do by China and Bill Gates.

What do you all think ?

John Campbell...yes I know how some of you feel about him...has posted co tent over the last week or so showing the potential he'll we are heading for.

Do you need Bacofoil or are you happy with own brand.

Anyone who has worked in government or for international organizations realises how crashingly inefficient they are the chances of them taking over the local village fete never mind global domination are just fanciful.

If restrictions on travel had been implemented in January 2020 when China went into lockdown then it wouldn’t have become the global pandemic that it did. A friend had restrictions placed on them in October 2019 to stop them flying overseas as they knew what was coming. They worked for a large aircraft manufacturer.

It took us another 2 months to implement a lockdown by which time it was already too late. December 2019 and many of my colleagues had persistent coughs and some were treated for pneumonia.

While you may think that WHO and any travel restrictions imposed are a ‘nanny’ state, think of how much quicker this could’ve been resolved if we’d gone into a proper lockdown.

Exactly Shag.

Once established, this removal of freedom will be impossible to get back.

Regardless of how useless they are, or the fact that there are limits on movements already in place, the fact that there will be one, unelected group who will be deciding the globes health policies (like 5% of our health spending going to them for example ?) should make everyone think twice.

And it's not like anyone will get to vote on it.

People may mock my points, however, the WHO are doing it for a reason, and are confident of it being taken up.

WHO is most of the time out of cash to help developing countries accessing basic health care and preventing diseases that disappear 50 years ago in most developed countries.

What is the purpose of international organisations, why collaborate with other countries?

You can't micro manage every decision ever made. Have a vote on every detail of day to day life.

As stated before this is a discussion over nothing; raised by someone with a vested interest in an attempt to keep themselves relevant with an incoming revenue stream.

Get out more and enjoy life.

I don’t see why there can’t be a referendum on the pandemic treaty and if it’s best for the country the public will decide.

Handing over global decision making to one organisation doesn’t sound very democratic.

Why can’t people be concerned?

It is funny what people believe that the WHO actually do.

They ultimately are an advisory body, they have the advantage of being able to look at the "World Picture" when publishing their advice, but they can't tell countries what they have to do.

In the covid pandemic, literally ZERO countries followed the WHO advice to the letter. Some even ignored it entirely, whilst most took the advice and applied their own political slant to create a balance they could sell to their people.

I think that's naive. Why do companies and govts want to gather and trade all of our personal details and information. Its currently a trade off between convenience and ignorance. Why should i need to register to make a purchase or browse? Is one example. Why is cash disappearing and only payment by card. Companies know what we buy when ourbperiods are when we have headaches, where we work, holiday, what we drive, where and how fast... They arent gathering and managing all of that Intel for no reason. The reason is just not yet apparent.

The main driver behind cashless isn't data gathering, it's profit. The process is quicker and requires less staff, there are no counting errors or incorrect change, there's no need for "cashing up" at the end of the day or risky carrying large amounts of cash too the bank (or paying for collections). These are all very attractive to many businesses.

Obviously the flip side to cashless is that there is less tipping of service staff, no dropping change in a collection bucket, no sticking a tenner in your nephew's birthday card, no easy daily budgeting, no tax free "cheap barrow jobs", no car boot sales, no secret purchase of presents for your other half (or mistress)

Read peer reviewed science, not garbage on the internet.

Independent peer reviewed science maybe. The beauty of science is if you pay enough you can get some peer reviewed science to say whatever you want... As the last few years have evidenced. "

You both are probably talking of peer reviewed research rather than articles. You then have the opportunity to critique it yourself.

After three years of reviewing hundreds and hundreds of pieces of peer reviewed papers, I don't want to do it my free time . And peer reviewed doesn't guarantee a good piece of research.

"If restrictions on travel had been implemented in January 2020 when China went into lockdown then it wouldn’t have become the global pandemic that it did.

I personally believe that it was too late to stop covid spreading across the globe as it did when they realised what they were dealing with. You have to remeber many people were asymptomatic, and the virus was probably already in many countries, before it was identified as a major issue. It seems to be under control now fortunately.

We can now ho back to worrying about how we are destroying our precious planet. Viruses will be of little concern when we have no air to breath, food to eat or safe water to drink.

Ad much as i detest the phrase "wake up". Some of the points people make are simply making folk aware of some of the stuff thats going on. Whether there is anything mpre sinister behind it.. Who knows. But there are some very large and powerful organisations and movements now. Ignorance may be bliss. Or it may not be. It might be helpful as a strategy if it weren't followed, nearly universally, by stuff that's only cited on the dodgiest of websites or is easily shown to be rubbish with a few minutes of looking at it seriously.

I listened to a conspiracy theorist in 2017 thought they needed a tin hat lol turns out everything they told me is now facts from the fake plandemic to the jabs, 15 minute city's, and digital ID and cashless society, which I don't want as they will be telling us what we can and can't buy!! I was hoping my conspiracy friend was wrong but as I said it all happened even to the fake war so I'm listening to him now

There is no conspiracy. All of these things are happening because of technology. Some people like the advancements and some don't. Like it or not, technology will always move forward. Unfortunately people's ability to understand this doesn't keep up.

Saw that .. I’m surprised he’s not being toasted over hot coals in all the papers today

He surmised we haven’t had a full Brexit because NI still has a border! Which he thinks should be removed immediately and that will somehow form a ‘ proper United Kingdom’ which would allow Brexit to work properly

insane level of crazy anyone ever failing to consider NI when Brexit was mentioned right from the start .. a lot of people there would absolutely not want sovereignty or to become subjects . They seem to have been making that clear for a very long time !

Yet Cameron and Cronies in London assumed that that percentage of the populous would just roll over

Never going to happen .. as most of the country already knew

Yet Cameron and Cronies in London assumed that that percentage of the populous would just roll over

Never going to happen .. as most of the country already knew

:/ "

In fact NI is receiving more investment from foreign countries than the rest of the UK precisely because it's benefitting from effectively being in the EU.

I mean who knew....

Well said -one of the sadnesses of the whole conspiracy movement is that it reflects the reality of the way that more and more people have been left behind by the migration of wealth to the super rich-leaving Joe Blow with no power, just be a load of confusion and resentment..

Anyone who has worked in government or for international organizations realises how crashingly inefficient they are the chances of them taking over the local village fete never mind global domination are just fanciful.

The UN will probably track tinfoil sales; best to smelt drinks cans in your back garden over an old washing machine drum, then beat the product to a thin sheet with a hammer. Only way to be truly safe.

Yes, but you will be tracked by the false god NASA and its satloons (balloons pretending to be satellites) circling the flat earth … better this is done underground."

The rich benefit from the conspiracy theories, because it's a distraction from the real problems.

So we waste our time arguing about stuff like this - not that it isn't a problem in its own right - while the people we all have a problem with get away with more and more.

I'm not a terrorist so it doesn't bother me.

With all the TV programs etc etc over the years I'm sure 'people of interest' probably know they are being monitored; whoever heard of 'burner phones' a few years ago. Surely that's no great 'secret'.

The trouble with this and all the other discussion threads in the Virus section is it is so difficult to tell the difference between genuinely knowlegable people, conspiracy theorists and facebook experts.

I can only assume that this long after the results of Covid enquiries, genuine facts about the efficacy of the vaccine rather than facebook facts everyone still banging on about it has to be a nutter, oh dear does that mean me too?

The point I am making is that just because something is branded a conspiracy theory does not mean it is not true.If you don't want to know about something,in other words make a decision based on as much info as possible, that's fine.I'm sure the people infected with HIV/Hep would have liked the truth at the time instead of "it's all a conspiracy",my great uncle would have appreciated the truth about asbestos,a farmer mate would have liked all the known(at the time) facts about organophosphates. At the very beginning of the vaccine rollouts news organisations were denying serious and fatal reactions to the jab, branding such events as anti Vax conspiracy theories.Que a torrent of replies accusing me of being anti Vax.I am not.Astra Zeneca.

With the signing of the WHO pandemic treaty, every government has given up sovereignty in decisions over the health of its people, animals and our planet when the WHO decides to call a pandemic.

The agreement is an international legally binding agreement and a "One Health" approach will be implemented.

So if the WHO decides to lockdown, an individual government/country cannot legally go against this.

If the WHO decides a certain medication or preventative treatment is to be administered to whoever they decide, an individual government/country cannot legally oppose this intervention.

This does not only apply to human diseases. This applies to animals and it applies to the "health of the planet".

Cash is on its way out, digital pound/digital currency is on its way in, alongside a digital id.

Read into that what you will.

The treaty does not even exist as yet. The potential treaty is currently under discussion with a draft proposal planned to be ready sometime next year.

Since the conteare yetvto be decided, commenting on its likely impact is a bit ahead of the game.

Apart from the fact the treaty does not yet exist or has been signed, what are the ramifications if a country decides to not follow the rules? Will every other signatory declare war on them? What if it is the USA or China that decides to do their own thing?

To accurately do your own research would require degrees in chemistry, biochemistry and probably some sort of research PhD in applied virology.

What it actually boils down to is trust.

And what the shouty youtubers (because they are always shouty) and other conspiracy types are doing is breaking the trust we have in our public health services, accidentally helped by some spectacularly incompetent politicians.

Against that you have some brilliant public servants ( and they are I've been honoured to meet Chris Whitty) trying to surf this tidal wave of sh1te to get governments to make sensible decisions.

Of course 2 generations ago our grandparents saw first hand the devasting impact of polio and measles and even small pox.

Yet in half an hour you can "do the research" on mRNA vaccines and trust a bloke on the internet with no more qualifications than you, who swears blind that it changes your DNA and its all a plot to control you.....

But yes...do your own research.....

You don't need multiple degrees, you just need to be able to critique the research that is out there. A large part of my BSc was to learn how to critique research.

I'm increasingly of the view that English is fragmenting into dialects based on ideological differences.

In my dialect, "research" means in depth analysis of relevant material, cross checked against other relevant material of an appropriate intellectual rigour, using the established norms of critical thinking, etc.

In another dialect, it would seem "do your own research" means "go on this virus laden screechy website and agree with what it says" or "scroll memes in the dumbest parts of Facebook". (And critical thinking means oppositional defiance for grown ups)

Please elaborate.

When you critique research you're examining for bias, looking at the methodology and other steps, you compare with other research, look at ethics. Look at discussion to see if the authors are transparent where their own research fails certain points, see their recommendations. You're looking at the quality of the research.

In the legal world, my equivalent of a critique would be a judicial review. Ie you are checking that due process has been followed, boxes ticked etc.

But you aren't checking the science so to speak. That's why my original point was regarding actually understanding the research. It's all well and agreeing with methodology, appropriate sample sizes etc if you haven't a clue if it works or not or have an idea of the science behind it.

No you're not testing the science as you're not looking into why or how something works but whether it works and how you got the results and whether (in quantitative studies) would replicating get the same results. You don't need to understand the chemical compound of dexamethasone to know it reduces swelling but research can (probably) tell you the percentage of Covid patients it helped.

You don't need degrees to do your own research, that is b******s and an insult to the intelligence. What is wrong with doing your own research?are we supposed to believe everything anyone tells us?All you need is a brain and to find experts in their field who have degrees so you don't have to(as if a degree makes someone totally incapable of talking shit/lying/spinning a particular narrative),people who don't hide behind usernames, use their real identities and publish their work with references to data, research sources etc.Public health organisations and Pharma have done more to undermine trust than any crackpot, the aforementioned Asbestos,Hiv/Hep,Organophosphates,Thalidomyde,vaginal mesh implants,Pfizer fighting and losing a US court battle to keep nine pages of possible Vax side effects secret.

What were the conspiracies about measles and smallpox?none.

"What it boils down to is trust".Trust someone who says "I am an expert,I have degrees, you are just a pleb, you know nothing, you are incapable of understanding this subject, you are incapable of comparing different bodies of work,so shut up,believe and accept everything because we are oh so superior"?I wonder how far science and civilization would have advanced if scientists and others accepted without challenge everything they were told.

If you want to mock and belittle people who want to do their own research, hear other opinions(that they may with further research dismiss)that's your malfunction and reveals the arrogance that contributes to the medical/science scandals already mentioned.

I mean, at the time smallpox vaccines came out people said it'd turn the vaccinated into cows. And apparently we needed a single measles vaccine because the MMR causes autism.

But sure, there were no conspiracies.

Maybe some people are better at research than others, and some are so bad at it that derision is, in fact, appropriate?

Exactly Shag.

Once established, this removal of freedom will be impossible to get back.

Regardless of how useless they are, or the fact that there are limits on movements already in place, the fact that there will be one, unelected group who will be deciding the globes health policies (like 5% of our health spending going to them for example ?) should make everyone think twice.

And it's not like anyone will get to vote on it.

People may mock my points, however, the WHO are doing it for a reason, and are confident of it being taken up. "

Yes, it will be hard to get back, once it is established as well.

Yes but (thread got too long) for those "doing their own research" you'd probably want to know what dexamethasone does, and the side effects (pretty nasty, given it's a regular treatment for those undergoing cancer treatment to reduce pain from chemo).

The claim about smallpox was not a conspiracy,it was not backed up by anything or anyone,it was a story the same as "if you travel faster than a horse can run you will explode".The post did not mention MMR-Autism(discredited).If you want to interpret replying to points raised in a post with the same vigour they were made as derision then so be it,a post which derided anyone doing their own research by the way. Some people live their lives in terror of what someone else might say. When you stop someone from speaking you are not showing the world they are wrong or a liar, you are just showing you are afraid of what they might say.Hear what people have to say then make up your own mind.

I'd start with people knowing what "research" actually means and having half a clue how it's done.

That alone would solve a lot of problems
