"The lockdown makes sense, the stopping of all other treatments doesn't. And anyone who has died during lockdown would likely have been put down as covid. " There's been far too many errors in the recording and counting of fatalities. I don't think we will ever be able to state beyond argument whether lockdown was a useful policy or not.

"Sadly, the experts have pointed out that the opportunities to order NHS and Care Services supplies including PPE, prepare for the pandemic fully and more, were decided by the government not to be undertaken at the start of the pandemic. This meant that the whole service was ill-fated to be able to sustain the levels of infection that overloaded it early on, including service suspensions for other conditions. A few days ago Johnson stated that he'd not read the report from the pandemic readiness tests that were run in 2016/8, which pinpointed how we would not cope with a viral epidemic. Health services had imposed real-terms cuts to funding from 2010, that have impacted on the overall ability of health and care services to be be able to operate just at the levels that they had been doing. We get what we pay and vote for and have now realised more than ever, just how important our health and support services are. It's tragic that so many more people than the tens of thousands who have died from covid19, are so gravely affected by this catastrophe. The partial lockdown appears to have prevented a much greater level of catastrophe but we should recognise the broader impact of it, not just of those who became ill or died directly via covid-19. I think that tax changes will be needed to help us to get service levels similar to Germany, some Scandinavian countries and elsewhere, where health investment is a higher priority. " Germanys investment is in manufacturing, why do you think big pharma make their drugs there? We can't compete with that scale and you would be relying on big Pharma to move complex operations to the UK. No chance. Also stop moaning about PPE you can't pay for every report recommendation. There will be a report saying nuclear war may happen. Shall the UK just incase become the world leader in making those weapons because a report said so. Also if there wasn't a pandemic people would be moaning about 100m worth of PPE going to landfil cos it didn't get used.
