Got mine from Amazon - from a british company - problem is I don't know if they got them from China.

They are very high quality however and at a very real price too, only £10.15 for 50.

I get very irritated with companies in my industry - car parts, suddenly become experts in PPE and claim that their “global expertise” is enabling them to help. It means that have a contact in China.

I would like all the charity shops - and our high streets are full of them to become official mask sellers.

Yes, and the research indicates that any covering helps. Doesn't prevent, but helps.

I've bought non medical masks knowing this, because I've done my homework.

There are various Face Mask suppliers emerging these days, some of which are UK based and making them here too.

But a lot though, are still using Far East manufacturers and prices reflect the time and distance to supply them.

I found the supplement retail mini-magazines which accompany weekend Newspapers are a good source of both disposable and reusable masks.

Larger branches of Sainsbury's are selling disposable masks in packs of 10; M&S do packs of 3.

Superdrug, & their subsidiary SAVERS, sell reusable & washable face masks in a range of 3 colours for £3 each.

Some Pharmacies sell washable face masks at around £8 each.

But check the disposable ones, as they will usually be on a basic type and won't be Medically graded to stop COVID19 virus particles. There are higher spec coverings available which will provide better protection.

I bought mine from The Big Bloomers Company. Lady V London does them in vintage prints. Some local seamstresses near me are selling them too, and the local charity I'm involved with is working on it too.

The face masks are not for self protection. They are not covering your eyes for a start. They are to reduce water droplets for yourself infecting others.

I bet prices will.rocket now though as profiteering will kick in.

Makes no sense to me having to wear a mask in a shop whilst simultaneously opening gyms where wearing a mask could be dangerous but are much more likely to create water droplets from people.

Any business with supply chain expertise in China should be able to source and import PPE.

Whether its car parts, kitchen utensils, homewares or tools - the principals are the same and so many more businesses will take advantage of the market demand that is about to grow.

ps.. anyone want to buy 250,000 face masks - very cheap price

Yep, it was specifically mentioned not to get medically graded masks because they are needed for the nhs and other sectors.

To clarify, masks/face coverings are NOT to stop you getting the virus, they are to stop you passing it on if you have it and are asymptomatic.

I've had it (clinical diagnosis) and locked down/isolated hard. So I'm likely immune, but I'm still wearing a mask when out.

Let's not get to carried away, is a face covering. I have one of those neck tube/buff things or a scarf. It'll cover my face and therefore compliant. Will it stop a virus, not a hope in hell.

Having said that, will be switching to mainly shopping online from 24th on. Local high Street is deadly quiet already, I think it could be a lot quieter in coming weeks.

Meanwhile in pubs no masks required, little social distancing and many people being idiots.

The new research suggests that any face covering provides some protection.

I'm not sure what's "carried away" about "how do we supply ourselves with things that we're going to be required to wear in order to shop in person".

Bought 100 KN95 a while back off amazon for £1 each for the olds and if/when I ever have to go on a metro again. If you’re not wearing it all day , anything will do but Kn95 means they are made and tested properly

After watching some internet tutorials my Mrs has been making them from full cup bras two from each one . All different colours too . The straps are adjustable really handy for wee to big heads she’s trying to start an online store selling them though seems to be set to fail as half the folk think they’ll look like a “right tit “ wearing one .

Thankfully one of my work colleagues - who also made scrubs and aprons for nursing homes - offered to make two reusable masks for anyone who needed them at work a couple of months ago for free. Mine are very bright and colourful

I've just looked at the packet of a new one and it states Microfibre 100% Poliamide ??? But they are really soft against your skin, and I got PM2.5 filters from ebay.

No need to ask your GP, there are standard template letters on all the long term conditions websites and the gov.uk websites GPs have specifically been told not to issue them, we have enough to do

We just wear our rollneck tubes that we use in the bike like a elasticated scarf tube light enough to breath thro and cover your face which is all it needs to do when you nip in the shop simple and Iv got a few different ones result

Don’t get that shop assistants don’t have to wear them. I was asked to remove mine in a shop yesterday while they did the challenge 21 as I was buying alcohol, happy about the challenge lol but thought well that’s a bit daft if you have to remove them for somebody not wearing one.

The problem is that if places go out of business people lose their jobs, not just the bar staff, managers, waiting staff and kitchen crew but those in the supply chain and beyond. It's a knock on effect.

I Never said it would stop a virus but then neither will any other mask that has been sold

unless it is a medical approved mask which the government do not want you to have as it will put the medical staff in short supply as it says face covering not actual mask if you read the press release

They're a British company who have spent the last 10 years developing it for 10 years, since sars, and it's a biotech coating that replicates the throat lining and captures viruses, well 96% of them... It's been tested as effective against covid in a independent lab. Good for 50 hours before hand washing up to 3 times giving 200 hours of use. It's a snood more than a mask.

They're actually now testing the protein they're using for use in humans as a inhaler to protect the lungs from covid.

Just googled it a bit and there seems to be pages of results from other places on the success of the protein so far.

In Vietnam I saw people with a hole cut in their mask so they could smoke a cigarette. I also saw someone who had made a mask from an empty 4 pint milk plastic bottle and he unscewed the lid to drink his beer.
