Im thinking of getting a pet i love Dogs and Cats but cant decide there both cute iv seen a few dogs and cats charities x

What is your favourite breed of cat or dog? X

Cats look after themselves and all you need to do feed them. Dogs need walking and are less self sufficient. If you have the time dogs are great, if you have a busy life go for a cat. I like fluffy cats and big dogs. Not the bull faced ones though. That is about the length, breadth and depth of my knowledge on k9 and feline creatures. Hope this has helped....

and unless you have someone that will look after them you need to find a good cattery or kennels when you go on holidays which adds to the cost of your holidays plus they need to have up to date vaccinations

If i decide on a cat id want two of them or if i choose a dog id like a big k9 i love big dogs,

iv had a dog he died a couples years ago and iv had a black tabby cat she ran away after 19 years x

If you are thinking of buying a puppy please don't go to the puppy farmers go to ur local dogs home and help them out get lots of help on the dogs up keep and training... GUD LUK.. I have five dogs all rescued

My last dog he was 7months old he had a few problems i recused he from a horrible person x

i wont even go to a farm iv been to dogs trust and a cat charity x

Depends on preference my mam has been told to stay away from.cats whilst on chemo but Dogs are fine it's something to do with you no where your dog is but cats can go anywhere.

Personally I like Dogs more for the simple reason if you stroke a Dog the Dog nudges you if you stop where a cat scratches if it has had enough with out warning I have never been scratched or bite by a Dog ever but I have by Cats many times.

I've had cats my whole life but as I now work from home I decided to get a walking companion when our last one died.

Cats have always been from the protection league.

For the dog we wanted a Husky or Malamute, then ended up with an American Akita Long coat,tbh we couldn't ask for a better first dog despite their reputation. He doesn't bark, can stay indoors for up to 24hrs on his own without being miffed or messing (only happened once though when car broke down) & is very protective of the children (which we have to watch tbh).

He actually cost less to keep day to day than the two cats we had previously (they were fussy eaters), it's only his initial cost, grooming & jabs that make him more expensive overall.

Basically he's a nine & half stone furry teddy bear, but you must always remember he has teeth & jaws big enough to crush bone if he wants to.

I think the decision will depend on your lifestyle. Dogs are more time intensive in terms of needing to be trained, walked etc. I wouldn't have a dog because I work full time.

If you get a cat please get a rescue cat, there's really no need to shell out big bucks for a pedigree. Moggies are awesome.

Especially the Garfield looking ones

Dogs (depending on what breed) can be more company, and keep the house safe when your out but take more looking after than some people think

I've got dogs so that's my preference

Mongrols (cross breeds) are better for me as mine have never had health problems where as my mates all have pedigrees and have had numerous ones

White dogs are prone to having bad skin or eyes for example

All dogs have jobs they are bred for so if you want a lazy dog get a bulldog or something

An energetic dog maybe go for a Dalmatian

Definitely a dog person. I have a one year old Siberian husky, she's as mad as a box of frogs, totally untrainable and chews everything and anything if she's left alone for more than 5 minutes. But I wouldn't swap her for anything.

If you enjoy lots of walking, having your arm pulled out of its socket, being attacked Kato style when you've been out of the room for 5 minutes and the feeling that you're being laughed at when you're trying to train them, then get a Husky. But you never really own a Husky, they just kind of put up with you until something better comes along

Husky is beautiful but they need lots of walks i dont have loads of time and i cant take him/her to work x

i had an akita loved women and disabled people but didnt like men x

Cats are independent ... but you still have to arrange someone to look after them if you go on holiday .

Dogs are like looking after a child ... they need lots of attention , and if u work full time its not fair on them.

Both need to be insured and need to be vaccinated...

Spaying or neutering ... microchipping ...

Food .....walks ...

Need I say more ...

There big n strong and actually are a good all rounder

Can be very friendly but don't take no crap

You in the police force then or security lol

No I'm not going to ask your profession coz that maybe personal

I'm a dog person. Currently have 2

They take up alot of time though and are a big commitment so not a decision to take lightly. If you decide on a puppy then be aware they need alot of time and training. Make sure to do your research so you get the right breed for you and your lifestyle. And then make sure all health tests are done that are necessary for that breed. Although the rescue centres are fit to bursting so if you fancy an older dog (although there are often puppies in rescue too

) then definitely check the rescue centres out.

Dogs are great company and I wouldn't be without mine but they're social animals and like company so if you don't have the time to dedicate to daily walks and training and are out of the house alot then a cat maybe better suited. Good luck with whatever decision you make

I like both ,but have 2 rescue cats.They keep each other company and snuggle up together and are generally v cute.

It depends how much time you have too,as dogs need walking a few times a day and don't like being alone for long periods.

I've never had a dog and don't have the lifestyle to have one working full-time. I grew up with a pedigree cat (a Birman) and he was a loving, fluffy, curl up on my lap, sleep and eat type. As an adult I had 16 lucky years with a moggie I adopted from a friend who had rescued her so I was her 3rd home. She was inquisitive, bright, daft, entertaining, made little chirpy noises, pretty, a good mouser, played fetch, snored ridiculously loudly and loved curling up on me and nestling her nose into my armpit or the crook of my arm to sleep. My next cat will be a rescue. Moggies have so much personality and they choose you, make no mistake.

a quandary, could you change my mind?

I don't have a true favourite Dog breed, so many breeds attract my attention for different reasons. Unfortunately a lot of the thorough breeds of dogs also have lots of problems with there health (particular traits of the breed).

I would always go for a Heinz57 as they seem to be stronger and healthier in general. Try and decide the size and temperament you want, then on from there.

A dog is a massive tie!

I don't know enough about cats to comment on them.

Cat for me, love mine dearly. All cats are different, likes, dislikes and temperament.

She adopted me.

She is very loving and wants lots of attention.

I pay someone to come in once a day when I go on holiday. £6 for half an

hour visit.

She is always very pleased when I come home, she's a bit clingy for a while, but gets over it.

MY favourite breed are rescues. There are millions of unwanted animals desperate for homes in the country.

And you can get breeds, they get abandoned too.

Cats do not look after themselves as people think. They need affection, games and lots of cuddles too.
