"Once upon a time I disliked it,I think it may be growing on me "

I think the sound of the word contributes to the dislike. Probably because of my mama, I used to hate the word and never used it and found it very offensive.

But a few years back, my hairdresser swore in conversation, and she looks so sweet and innocent. I said "did you just swear?". The chap next to me said "X has a real potty mouth. You should ask her what her favourite swear word is".

I hazard a guess at fuck, which is such a great word that can be used as a noun, verb, adjective and even then multiple uses. I always love telling my foreign friends about the usage of fuck in English and not to get offended immediately based on the context (eg How was the steak? 1) it was fantastic 2) it was most delicious 3) absolutely amazing 4) fucking gorgeous, the fucking bollocks. Well "fuck" just gives it that bit more umph imho).

Anyway, I was wrong. And she smiled and quietly said cunt. I said cunt? And she said yes I love using that word.

Since then it has been a grower. Whilst I haven't used it in sex yet. I love using it to denounce people. The vulgarness seems to give it a bit more emphasis, so prefer to say stupid cunt to stupid fuck.

I think I'd have to have a really filthy session to use the word cunt in sex, but would be offended if a women used it in dirty talk, in fact I'd find it a turn on.

Until then, I'll stick to the softer term of pussy.

I think it's all about context really. There are words that some find offensive and derogatory. But I think it's like most words, slang or otherwise. It's all about the usage & intent in how they are portrayed and accepted.

The N word, as you call it is an interesting one. And I think calling it this creates a word of its own. I see this word bounced along quite a lot and have to smile when I'm out with various friends and a rap song will use the word and my black friends will just say it out loud. But if I'm with white friends and the song plays, they completely miss the word out, like a radio censorship. Reminds me of white chicks.

Myself and my black and mixed race friend had a real good debate on the word, but that's another story.

But I watch a lot of AHAT rap battles, which are colour agnostic. You'll see some fantastic poetry, cussing etcetera and black vs white vs asian. They will cuss and they will say the n word; black, white and asian and they will use it for white people and vice versa but there's no offence taken, even if they are dissing as everyone is on a level.

No malice, no problem in my opinion. But I do see the other side of the argument. And there is a call for both.

"Although I think it's original meaning was to describe a leather pouch to put your sharpening stone in ... "

" I think it means to in Dutch or that could be Kunt"

Its origins are from Cunni (latin for the female genitals) hence cunnilingus:

Cunni + lingus

Vagina + tongue.

Kunt on the other hand is the second person singular conjugation of the dutch verb kunnen (to be able to)

U kunt = you can.

As for the pouch for the sharpening stone, this one I cannot explain; it may be a local synonym from one of the following::

bag, purse, wallet, sack, sac, pocket, container, receptacle; poke, sporran and (historically) reticule.

FAB!!!

Love that judge.

Reminds me of an English lesson at school. We had an Ozzy English teacher, renowned for his bluntness. There was a quiet altercation between him and a girl I quite liked, which ended when she loudly said in class:

"You're nothing but an Australian cunt... *sir*".

Its a saxon word, as is cock. A word is often more palletable once you know its origins. I quite like the guttoral sound cock and cunt makes, very bold strong words.

a quandary, could you change my mind?

Not a word that should be used, detest hearing people say it, don't like reading it either.

It's a very ancient word for a vagina, and we use it as such. G's ex used it for that as well.

Using it as a swearword or insult just shows what the ignorant users really think of women, sexist idiots.

Iceland, but Aldi is closer..

I hate the use of it..

Serving in NI in the late 80's, we were called it day in and out by kids no older than 10...

If you need to use it, use berk.. From the cockney Berkshire hunt.. Far more palatable

Back after being banned! Unfortunately the power hungry mod didn't understand the humour and ambiguity or the general topic about the c word.

I would never direct any malice and anything said would be in total humour. "What a C" can also be talking about a situation as opposed to being direct. You missed the irony.

I welcome them to contact me directly to discuss, instead of hiding behind a block button. We can take this offline and then you'll acknowledge that you made a error on this occasion.

Based on this experience and on topic, I think I've gone off the word!

It's possibly the greatest word in the English language. Since 2010, it's been word of the year 7 times. Beating fucker into second place. Although the phrase Pig fucker is very much top of the pops. But is not yet hyphenated.
