How has swinging changed over the years? When we first started nearly 10 years ago almost everyone was genuine and meets seemed to be easier to come by. When we went out it was usually as a group and fun was had by all. A lot of meets now seem to be 1 on 1 ( well 2 on 2 lol ) and clubs seem to be locked doors rather than party rooms. This is only out personal view and we understand that this is exactly what some are looking for, we are just interested in others opinions on how things have changed xxxP&Jxxx

I would have thought with technology things are far easier than the days of contact mags and letters. There was still lots of pretenders then too, might be the actual percentage now is equal to then, just far more in the scene now.

I wouldn't say that was true... what i will say is that you have to stand out more to make an impression to be able to get invites...

so be that on the chatroom or in the forums or getting to socials the oppotunities are out there....

I've found a lot of guys on here are looking for a quick fix, they are not interested in any of the social side of it all or the 'fun' side. I now will not meet anyone now unless it's at a club, which has reduced my meets to zero!! I also agree with the locking of doors at clubs when it's just a couple in there, what's the point?

it is the social side of swinging that tends to open the doors to the party side......

me... i love it.... the socials are there and the oppotunities are there..... like we keep saying.. you get out what you put in.....

There's alot more married and cheatings (so can't get away from the partner often)

More single men looking for a quick shag.

It's become a bit of a trophy hobby

Maybe, from when I started over 10 years ago......... I've just gotten older

I also find that alot of the 'quickie' brigade are also so disrepsectful that it's unbelieveable. ie, It's not just ME, my hubby is in this to!!!

As someone who is new to the scene I'm finding it extremely fustrating there seems to be more don'ts than does

I know single guys have a bad name it just seems that the ok ones like me (haha) are looked down upon

But that's my point I'm pretty new to this not lookin for trophys lookin to explore the swinging side socially aswell as physical but wen u ask for invites u get asked to bring a partner ?? So how do new guys get to learn the etiquette if there treat like arseholes ?

Years ago you had to work harder to find avenues for swinging, like clubs etc so the people who found these avenues tend to be more geniune as they have had to work hard to build contacts and find out the information they needed.

Now it's easily accessible through all the swinging sites, so any Tom, Dick or Harry can find out and get access to a quick shag rather than understanding the lifestyle perhaps.

In my very earliest days it was all word of mouth. If you happened to know someone who held parties you might get an invite as a bit of novelty for the ladies. You might meet a couple out dogging and impress them enough to get an invite to a party. Mess it up and you'd probably blown the swing scene for 100 miles around.

When magazines came along there was a huge upturn in interest but you had to buy the mag, write (and we've seen how good some swingers are at that) impress a couple who've never met you, get a reply, arrange a meet convenient for all parties (in the days before cellphones) and eventually meet (hopefully).

Come the internet, everyone and his dog is a 'swinger'. No costs, no waiting, no social skills, no joined up thinking etc required. Just an internet connection and a mobile phone. It's become a numbers game. Fire off countless variations on 'fancy a shag' and eventually someone will say 'yes'.

I think swinging has changed loads since i started doing this

I started swinging about 10 years ago with my then husband, meets was so much easier to come by, there was loads more house parties and club always had loads more action in them

Now days id say s good 30/40% of people who use clubs are what i call sunday swingers lol they are not players they go for the social side cause it makes them feel trendy and naghty to sit drinking in a swingers club lol and these are mainly couples who will only go into clubs on couples nights

Hardly any house parties anymore

And its much harder to get meets off here because swinging is now more wide spread you have so much more people to piss you about

As someone who has swung as a couple and is now a singleton on here I find that there are less offers for me to swing and way too many that want to meet me on my own for sex.

Thats not swinging, thats just 2 people having sex.

I like swinging, but I don't want to end up with a list as long as my arm of men that I've slept with. To me that goes against what I came on here for all those months ago (as a couple).

So until I find the right person to swing with I'm enjoying meeting people for coffee/lunch/nights out without the sex. If and when I do meet him, thats when I'll swing again.

Something to think about perhaps...

Swinging and the Internet, the Internet swinger sites perpetuate the problem because any internet site is indeed a numbers game, that’s how it works. If this site didn’t have the numbers 99% of you would have never heard of it, so you wouldn’t be here!

Sites of this nature rely on ‘traffic’ visitor to the site, the increase of traffic pushes them up the seach engines, higher up on the search engine = more hits, = more traffic and so on. More traffic gives value to advertising space and so you can have a ‘free’ site... without the numbers it may not exist, or at least not exist for free.

I wonder, how many members does this particular site have in the UK, if you then stripped it of the dead accounts, the time-wasters, dross and tumble what would you be left with? Ok, we’ve just chucked out all the so-called rubbish but now you’ll have to pay £15 a month but here’s the big question... will that get you more shags?

There have been a number of things which I think have contributed to swinging changing. What I think they have in common is that they have contributed / conspired to bring swinging into the open, and therefor to its potential downfall.

Once upon a time, swinging was "underground". It was something that you had vaguely heard about, occasionally read about in a Sunday paper, but thought was only something that the playboys and their like did... it wasn't for the masses.

Then came the contact mags, and then came the internet, and more and more keys to the door were on offer.

And then came Channel 4 and latterly Channel 5 and the Cable channels which needed sex to sell its late night schedules. With programmes like "Sexcetera", "A Girl's Guide To 21st Century Sex" and "Sin Cities" all of a sudden, what used to be underground has become almost mainstream...with two big consequences. Firstly, those who liked "the scene" because it was "naughty" became disinterested because it wasn't quite as naughty any more (note the parallel to CB Radio - very popular when illegal, and almost died a death as soon as legalised) and secondly, the "great unwashed" were able to access the scene. Thereafter, with a different kind of person after different things from the scene, change became inevitable. Just my view of the situation of course. I may be wrong and others will have their take, but that's how I see it.

I've been swinging for 6 years now and in that time have noticed a diffrence. I'm still not to sure about this whole Internet swinging thing, time is precious to me and the few meets I have arranged either turn out to be timewasters or just the male of "the couple" turns up. At least in clubs (although now deluged by disrespectful packs single males) you get the social part of the lifestyle and can get to know people. The upside is that a lot of clubs are now a lot cleaner and have more facillities (more than one shower and more than one loo).

Totally agree, the 'One Line Message' Brigade are often surprised when I tell them the swinging life is harder than the real one if all they're looking for is a quick shag!

Too many single men (sorry single men) believe that because women are here they should be treated like unpaid prostitutes-that's been a big change since we started!

I know lots of couples that go to clubs and only play between themselves, or dont play at all, i personally can not see the point in going to a swingers club if your not a swinger

I know people will say that everyone goes for their own reasons and i agree with this, but i just can not see the point in driving miles, as some people do, paying high free to get in a swinging club and then just sitting drinking all night

To be honest this is the biggest difference i have noticed in clubs

Years ago people who used clubs went for the reason they opened

Swinging clubs wasnt opened with the intention of being used as a social gathering place they was opened for the use of like minded people to go and have sex
