Cyprus

We have friends who are swingers and she is profoundly deaf.

Hilarious hand movements when she's trying to tell a bloke what she wants!

They are accepted as much as everyone else within the swinging community.

After all, the universal sign for wanker is exactly the same.

i know a couple where the woman is deaf, seen her many times at clubs and parties, don't seem to hold her back and people don't seem to be bothered by it

i'm probably talking about the same woman as you _adchick

I can be selectively deaf... Depends who I'm with.

wouldn't bother me in the slightest if someone was though... Would make the sign language more interesting thats a fact..

er...guess

There used to be a blind woman whose husband (b/f?) took her dogging down the Ayrshire coast in the late 90s.

She reckoned she could identify the guys by feeling and sucking them. I suspect her husband used to help her cheat.

Swinging is like every other walk of life, and all kinds of people swing. Like any community people do there best to help others out. People have been so sweet to me when ive been somewhere and my leg has been bad. Mind you they all so took full advantage lmaoxxkarenx

We been married over 20 yrs and I find i'm repeating myself more often now too!!! nothing to do with hearing.....She just not listening!

Seriously though Pip has had hearing problems in past and had various operations on her ears and is slightly deaf in one ear. (only really a problem in busy noisy suroundings) So we just make sure she seated with good ear facing company when meet at first, so she can hear everything thats being said. Everyone has been cool about it, and it normally makes for an icebreaker to get conversation started.

Melton Mowbray

I was born profoundly deaf, have good speach and apart from missing words in conversation, isn't a problem.

Or at least 'shouldn't' be a problem.

Nothing different here to 'normal' life, some people see the hearing aids and therefore dismiss the idea. Just another barrier to break down and, for me, try to ignore

I’m not deaf but I can sign enough to chat. I’ve met a couple of deaf guys on Fab.

One friend tells me deaf men are the best in bed. I think it’s just possible he’s biased!

I am HI, awaiting replacement hearing aids as mine died a dreadful death so currently hearing very little. I am lucky in that my hearing fluctuates with stress and weather so I do have hearing periods. The past month isn't one of them lol.

I also sign but never met anyone else at a club who can so just a lot of repetition of what people say and a lot of concentration on my part to decipher those who forget to keep their mouth clear.

Never affected whether I get a meet or not as generally if someone is interested they won't mind repeating themselves several times, there not being much conversation and me missing out on what is going on in group settings. When my hearing completely goes as it does several times a year I only play with my partners or those I've played with often enough to know their speech patterns or they've actually learned to sign they've known me that long lol.
