Yes. Like any rope or bondage there is an element of risk if performed by an unskilled person.

I will let others who know more about shibari than me give a more detailed response.

But the principles are the same wherever ropes or bondage is placed.

There are no primary nerves in the breast tissue. So unlikely to create lasting mobility issues as an example.

But there are glands and milk ducts within, and they many become bruised or scarred over continuous or long periods of bondage.

There is of course the blood flow issues. If tightened and left for an extended period of time, it can induce significant bruising and discomfort and possible internal damage.

In simplistic terms be aware of RACK (Risk-aware consensual kink).

Make good judgement decisions regarding who you play with, boundaries are without question, and always have an escape plan. Medical safety shears are a must when doing any rope based bondage.

I can only talk from my experience and in each individual case you should get medical advice (although I don't think that many people will ask their GP about the dangers of having their breasts tied!).

I have not heard of issues with breast ties. The obvious points are no suspension with the breasts taking the full weight, or using rope that will cut into the skin, ask about implants and check whether they can take it if tying tightly.

Breast ties and crotch ties are usually the first thing learnt by those who learn rope for sex. Therefore, apart ensuring the person being tied is comfortable, tying people with larger breasts which hang is fairly straightforward.

I think the biggest issue for consideration by people being tied (other than the standard rope points previously mentioned), is to be clear about the rope experience you want, whether decorative, sexy,connected, or dominant. You should, if possibe, vet the person tying with the aim of satisfying yourself that the person tying is competent to deliver and will not take advantage.

In my view there is far more to the rope experience than roping the breasts and genitals.

But different strokes for different folks.

In addition to what has been said about safety, I would add that if things start "tingling" (like pins and needles) that's probably time to loosen the binds, and anyway tight bondage probably shouldn't last longer than ~15-20 minutes at a time. If in doubt, loosen them up - there's always next time.
