I think it’s more about being decent, as in not rude, crude or abusive. There’s just no point to it….

If you already believe that polite is an overall societal good, then how is it a waste of time?

Nope. It's the bare minimum online or in real life.

However it doesn't mean that just by being polite you're entitled to any reply or interest on here. People often think that because they act in a respectful and polite manner that others should be expected to respond or chat to them. It's not impolite to not reply to those you have no interest in.

Then don't be polite and well mannered?!

Politeness doesn't guarantee you sex neither does good manners, neither entitle you to a response from anyone.

This is what I came here to ask.

If you're always polite, and that's how you were raised, then whether you are or not shouldn't depend on external factors.

Manners cost nothing. However you can't be polite to everyone on here and keep some degree of sanity

It's never a waste of time, I'll always be polite in any sense until someone gives me a reason not too, to them.

Being truthful I think I'm more polite in this world that I am the vanilla world.

No it's not

If you expect something for being polite though, you may be disappointed.

Have you found it to be a waste of time?

I'm usually polite although I'm perfectly capable of being impolite if the occasion demands it. Sometimes people are rude to me despite my politeness to them, I don't consider that I wasted my time I just think they're spanners.

I consider myself polite and always mention that when sending messages on here. That however doesn't mean thatI don't get rude responses

The way I see it is:

If they don't like you because of your politeness and manners then they don't deserve you.

Based on your green arrow I'm seeing a familiar pattern.

Is it time to change your approach and due diligence?
