To be clear, we have seen and experienced some wonderful people with great skinart, and we admire and respect the work that goes into so many.

However certainly post 2000 they seem to have gone beyond a mere fashion into being almost de riguer on both men and women.

muse has never even considered a tattoo and wouldn't really want one now, H has considered it but never undertook. They used to be a sign of sexual liberation, certainly on women, now we feel we are the odd ones out.

Do our tatted up friends find us odd?

There is an advert by Dermablend. It is a heavy foundation that actors use which gives amazing coverage. Transvestites and Drag Queens use it to cover the five o'clock shadow.

In this advert, there was a naked man and woman, both very sexy and alluring. They then take make-up remover and wipe over their skin and every inch of their body is covered in tattoos. Dermablend is just showing their product can give amazing coverage. But I was a little disappointed as I preferred them au natural. To me, with a lot of tattoos the body just doesn't look naked.

I've fought the overbearing situations and urges of having them myself for the last 15 or so years and even to date I have to stop myself doing my own using traditional methods.

I low-key thank all of the artists that turned me away over the years because they were unwilling to do the work I so desire.

On the other hand, getting a tattoo is a big change and a life choice, one that comes easily to most through influence alone, so I get why it's one people typically go through with for that big almost low expense dopamine rush they needed at the time.

Nah… we are from the 80s and well travelled- so been there n seen it all.

Keo doesn’t mind them if they are work of art , of high standards + tasteful and Mimi prefers clear skin … hence as a couple we both prefer clear skin

I wasn’t sure if you’re asking whether you’re off because you don’t have tattoos or because you do t like them on others?

Either way, no you’re not odd at all, you like what you like.

I’ve considered having something small and subtle in the past but have never pulled the trigger on it. I have enough natural tattoos (a.k.a scars) that tell my story better than any needle could , that works fine for me .

Having said all that, there’s also some really awesome body art out there too, each to their own

Nope, thank you, not interested in getting any tattoos or piercings. One hole (very normal size done by my godmother just before my Holy Communion) in each ear is more than enough for me. I have nothing against tattoos but I can think of a much more pleasant ways of spending my money.

We're both tatt-free.

I didn't used to particularly care for them on others, although they are so common now and some are very arty, that I've grown to accept them.

It's quite unusual to meet others that don't have them. It wouldn't bother us either way.

It wouldn't even occur to me to notice if someone didn't have any tattooed never mind think they were strange because of it

I don’t do things in half’s so got a full leg sleeve.

I love it and wear shorts all the time to show it off lol

Closest I have come to a tattoo is a henna in my youth and a fancy dress tattoo sleeve at a recent event for pirate themed.

Otherwise I don’t think I would ever be confident enough to choose something I want for the rest of my life.

Not odd just not sheep, there was a time when tatoo's had a certain connotation that went with them, now the most bland and vanilla people have a full sleeve as they think it makes them interesting, it can make up for a lack of personality though, I will probably get some stick for saying this but I dont care tbh, I do have some tattoo's though they are older than half the people on fab, certainly not fashion statements, more a right of passage.

Nope, tattoos aren’t for me. My body is a ‘blank canvas’ and will stay that way.

I was in the men’s washroom at the NEC when Shane Lynch also needed to use the facilities. As he washed his hands in the basin next to me, I joked he would have to scrub a bit harder to get all that off his hands……he did actually chuckle

Tattoos on a woman wouldn’t be a dealbreaker for me, but neither would they ‘draw me in’….

When I was younger tattooed people stood out, they were the minority often distrusted and definitely misjudged. To have a tattoo in those days meant you were rejecting conventional, traditional norms.

But now it’s everyone from the Police to your GP has them. In the pub with a few work colleagues and I was the only one without a tattoo. Same scenario in the 80’s even as a heavy metal fan only a couple of mates had tattoos. It just want a thing then.

I am more attracted to people who don’t have tattoos and to be honest, rightly or wrongly perceive that they’re not following fashion trends, as I’ve always been attracted to that type of person.

Ironically in the 80’s and 90’s I probably would’ve fancied a tattooed lady because she wasn’t following conventions.

I don’t have any tattoos as no subject seemed important enough for me to get permanently marked on my body. I understand cultural (Maoris), religious and superstition (my grandfather’s pin and ink anchors and swallows from his sea faring days) and the sense of belonging (military/ gang). There’s some beautiful artwork that I admire but equally there’s stuff that I find personally bizarre to have inked - I can’t imagine anything more daft than having a massive full colour SuperMario on a thigh as a grown man. Are you trying to make the point that you wasted days and nights of your limited lifespan addicted to playing a computer game? Same as the stuff that’s as thoughtless and mundane, the samey cliche subject matter found on countless walls on Tattoo parlours in holiday resorts relying for their business on clients that are pissed? Each to their own I suppose. It’s like buying a personalised number plate - it doesn’t give you a personality, I just think there’s better things to spend your money on in life.

Both of us are weirdos who have no tattoos. Both have never seen any reason to make indelible marks on our bodies. For me, I would need to have something I passionately wanted to display on my skin, and I don't.

On others, I don't mind much either way, although my preference would be no tattoos. If we're talking about someone to hook up with in the swinging world, it really doesn't matter what is tattooed on them. For someone to form a serious relationship with, there would be some forms of tattoos that would put me off.

I am sure that these days some people just want to have something on them, rather than it being something meaningful. Their choice. Myself, there is absolutely no chance that I will ever decide to be tattooed, and my OH feels the same.

It does seem that way these days doesn't it? Everyone seems to have one even if its a small tatt on the wrist or something.

I remember Ozzy Osbourne stopping his daughter Kelly from getting one on their reality show. She said, "that's not fair, you've got loads". And he said, "I did it when it wasn't so common"

Yup it's pathetic.

Its one thing to have a preference for no/few tattoos (which is fine) but the amount of judgemental/nasty comments people make because some people choose to decorate their bodies is astonishing

I used to be quite heavily tattooed on one arm. From the shoulders down to my hand. Had them all removed over the course of a few years in my late 20’s.

I’m definitely not anti tattoo but I’m happy not to have mine anymore.
