Maybe im being touchy then as a deaf person, just the way it comes across as if they have a disease. So its ok to ask " would you be ok with a hearing blind person ?" too. Just asking.

I think it’s probably natural that anyone would want to seek reassurance that something about themselves wouldn’t put other people off whatever that thing might be. I can understand why it might make someone else touchy about him has the same thing and doesn’t see it as an issue for them though

Lets put this into context. There has been an ignorance and stigma of people who are deaf or hard of hearing since the dark ages. However It didnt bother millions Watching Strictly Come dancing and Rose Ayling-Elis actually winning it ! Sad but even though that broke barriers it seems that dancing was ok but now need to ask, sex n swinging with a deaf person, are you ok with that ? Madness !!

Obviously this thread and question has hit a nerve with you and I can understand why.

But in this case, the question appears to of come from another non hearing person and also seems to be seeking reassurance of something they probably already know.

I totally agree if it came from a hearing person the question wouldn’t be appropriate. Hopefully the answers show so far back up your reasoning that it shouldn’t be an issue though ?

I'll be honest I'd certainly have concerns to discuss, primarily because I sometimes struggle with communication styles because of my Autism and I'm not sure how my issues would impact.

So not a hard no, but I wouldn't meet someone I thought I'd struggle to communicate with because I'm not going to be compatible with someone who exacerbates my own communication issues.

Wouldn't bother me. We were in the process of arranging for a meet with a deaf lady when she stopped answering us. It was something that she felt awkward about telling us and was worried about. We put her at ease, or so we thought, by messaging her at length to discuss what she was looking for and what we could do to help with her being deaf during our meet.

I had a FWB (still a F) who is deaf on one side. Super smart, awesome dancer, straight forward fun fuck. Deafness not a thing in the context.

Oh the OP is Deaf! Ok well why do you ask? If you met someone who has a natural ability with visual (sign) language, then it's just a case of accepting and adjusting to y/our world?

I am 30-40% deaf, so defined as HoH (Hard of Hearing) and every boyfriend I've had, I've taught them basic BSL.

You are right and at first i thought it was from a hearing person, however i find it disappointing now i know he'd deaf that he needs that reassurance when it shouldnt be an issue. Hey ho were all made different, and react differently. Thanks for your own input im sure it will reassure him. For me i am what i am, and love being on here.

Your point made me think about the girly chats I have with my Asian girlfriends. Some girls prefer to date Asian guys (in OP's case another Deaf person) as you share the same language and more importantly... culture.

I prefer to date white guys as that is my physical preference but I also enjoy the cultural learning. This also cuts across gender differences. A lot of my gay male friends never understand women and can be sexist so I pick them up on it.

Some people stick with what they're comfortable with and need reassurance. Others like me enjoy making my life a "little less ordinary"

I'm very hard of hearing and never thought that it may cause an issue. I suppose if I was on a meet and the other person didn't like the fact I wore hearing aids, then that would be disappointing but it wouldn't bother me.

I have noise induced hearing loss and severe tinnitus that I'm supposed to wear hearing aids for but I don't because eof the stigma of a 40 something man being deaf from people like you. Feel free to DM me

Well, it’s not put people off meeting us. Not too sure what you think the problem would be? I can chat, laugh, sing, lip read and do everything else that I need to do in the bedroom, except hear properly. It’s never been an issue for us!

I have bad hearing issues, im not deaf yet but it has taken me years to learn not to answer questions during sex as I don't know what I am answering.

I can't say I have had any issues in swinging with it, although other people say I am loud and obnoxious.

Well as we know in the Deaf (cap D) community is the identity can be proud or blurred. So some call it the BSL community as it's the beautiful language that unites us.

With young people being coerced by hearing parents to undergo cochlear implant surgery...

OP, embrace your deafness as something to be proud of... If people have problems with it, you really don't have the time or energy to deal with their prejudice...

do people turn people down for wearing glasses ?? no so the no different with deafness most wear hearing aids and if someone is completely deaf then as long as i knew before hand then it makes no difference ...there a deaf guy who vists a club we use who has speech problems as well as deaf and hes always popular and i dont mean just social hes alway kit off with somebody so no makes no difference

As long as the person was what we were interested in it wouldn't matter if they are deaf. It's just being aware and being able to properly communicate our needs and wants and there needs and wants. For example do you have a small whiteboard with pens within reach if something you want more of of something you don't like

Yes I would, I have hearing problems myself, I don’t tell anyone as I’m ok if I’m speaking face to face I do struggle if they are facing away or there is a lot of background noise as I chose not to wear my hearing aid. The only time I would mention it is if they are to softly spoken.

i have a deaf friend on this site and we have spoke about playing many times but it never happened, her hearing issues were one of the first things i knew about them. It's the brain and interpersonal chemistry i find most important.
