Being colourful with age on fab

Now I know most won’t post their actual age on fab and keeping it low to stay in the interested bracket. However, why do some people state their age and are clearly 10, 15 years older?

Met a guy after messaging. He was from out of town and his photos weren’t very clear. Said he was 47, 7 years older than me. As soon as I met him in the pub it was instantly obvious that was a lie. After a drink, I never bail even with deception, I said “you’re not 47 are you. He told me he’d had a hard life. Eventually he said he was 59. Surely if it’s a lie by that much is it worth trying deceive?

I have absolutely no issue stating my true age. What is the point in lying?

We had a meet from our couples profile where the male half admitted to being 10 years older. It’s deceptive and makes you wonder what else they’re lying about.

I like that! The thing is at the time I was new. Hadn’t set an age range. He could have messaged me being 59 and I would have talked to him.

Just posted on another thread about a guy I knew they a chatgroup 5 years ago who said he was 55 at the time but admitted in the group he had knocked a few years off and was actually 58.

He leaves and comes back on a regular basis and one of his most recent profiles said he was 50.

My age on here is correct mainly because there's no point lying about it but also because I've no interest in "getting around" filters.

I also enjoy flying the flag for older members and am happy with how I look for my age.

We met for a social ,he said late 30s,but was easily in his 50s.Nothing came of it ,he admitted to using v old pics.

I think they hope you won't mind once you meet them.

It's very deceptive and makes me wonder what else people lie about ,if they do their age.

My age is a few weeks older than I am .

We've met people in their 30s who appear in their 50s in real life, also people in their 50s who appear in their 30s. Trust is everything for us so deception before we meet will result in a very quick no, honesty may just get you that play.

My age is correct, I’m proud of it as it took me 39 years to achieve.

I think there’s people with multiple profiles where they’ve made an extra one to message where age preferences exclude them. It’s a bit odd but then people seem to do and say all sorts of things online that in real life may get them into all sorts of trouble.

Being totally open and honest I actually considered adding a year on another account because there’s so many interesting profiles that aren’t interested in under 40s. However I’m either lazy or honest as I just decided to wait until my next birthday instead.

And one thing for sure is that the many people who are lying about their age won't appear on this thread. A blatant lie like that suggests they're capable of lying about lots of other things... So maybe best not to meet anyone until you've had a video call to flush them out.

I've never denied adjusting my age by a couple of years. Every time this subject crops up the usual suspects start getting holier than thou about any minor inaccuracy in someone's profile being a heinous lie, purposely done to decieve and dupe people into meeting them.who otherwise wouldn't.

Some make minor adjustments purely for discretion. The same way that they don't use their real name or their exact location. It's about manintaing anonymity and privacy for some.

Of course, knocking a decade off is pointless and won't fool anyone. Likewise using photos so old they bear no resemblance to you now is futile.

I'll say the same as I always do. Line up 20 people aged 31 to 50 and try and put them in exact age order. 99% of people will guess wrong.

Age is one of the filters on site, but how often do people ask it face to face in clubs or socials? I suspect actual physical attraction is far more important in those situations than finding out someone is one year outside of your Fab preferences and the liklihood of you then cutting them off and rejecting them would be small.

But hey. The question will be asked every month ad infinitum and the answers given will always be the same.

A

"Now I know most won’t post their actual age on fab and keeping it low to stay in the interested bracket.

Surely if it’s a lie by that much is it worth trying deceive?

.

Don't see the point in fibbing about age "

I would guess it’s to get around the filters that some people have set up on their profiles…

Why are you saying "most"

Don't understand post with these sweeping statements.

I post my real age

Lies is pointless

And even on fab you need an element of trust so let's start with the basics

"I have absolutely no issue stating my true age. What is the point in lying?

We had a meet from our couples profile where the male half admitted to being 10 years older. It’s deceptive and makes you wonder what else they’re lying about."

This is the problem, what else are they being dishonest about?

We had one guy who was 14 years older than what he said.

Another who was four inches shorter in height than he stated.

Another who used a fake face photo, we reported him, but nothing was done about it.

Lifes departure lounge NN9 Northamptonshire East not West MidlandsMidlands

I met a lady on here 5 years ago who declared her age to be 59, on her arrival at my place she openly declared that she was actually 64 which I was fine with.

We drifted apart and never met again, I did however get a message from her a few days ago asking how I was,Her current profile shows her age as 59. In reality she would be 69 now. I would still be more than happy to meet up with her though.

I post my age. I wouldn't take it too seriously women never give their real age.

I’ve had well over 20 men message me who say they’re in their 40s/50s and from their pics are clearly in their 60s. As if they’d have even the slightest chance of being believed

50 and in good shape here.

My age is accurate but do feel like 50 is a big cutoff point for some members. I feel some are missing out on some very experienced gentleman who would make great attentive lovers.

I decided there was no point in trying to hide my age !!

But I have noticed a drop in people I can chat with once I hit 60 - a lot of people seem to have that as a cut off

But still thankfully a lot of people who don’t have an age issue
