I expect this is a frustrating topic for many and had the same experience.

I was recently exchanging messages with a couple who I thought genuine as they had a few verifications and we agreed on a date to meet but I would need to book a hotel.

So I went ahead and done so as I was going to be in the area anyway but now closer to the time I’m hearing nothing back which is frustrating especially as I’ve now forked out for the hotel.

Is this a common problem as it’s certainly put me off doing it again.

It's common and happens a lot. Not everyone does it of course.

Had it happen multiple times. Just sort of used to it now and move on from it. It's less frustrating now and just a simple annoyance of life, be prepared for it to happen.

Another reason to meet at clubs. Level playing field. If they don't turn up. At least you can maybe find yourself with other options.

Seems like it's a frequent thing on fab.

We meet in hotels but would never have the meet as the only reason, we get a nice room and if it happens great if not we have a great night out

I'd never book a hotel that I wasn't able to cancel and especially if I was meeting someone I'd never even had a social with

Just make a night of it. Add yourself the meet list ASAP & see if anyone else wants to come through on that day. Don't waste a perfectly good hotel booking.

Personally, I'd never do that to a potential meet. If an emergency comes up and I had to cancel I'd offer to pay half of the cost.

you've been let down not ghosted ..

ghosting is people who know each other ie a long term friend or lover / boyfriend /girlfriend..

there been a massive increase in these post of late mostly from men there has to be a reason ?

is it other men running fake couples / womens accounts ..

is it old couples accounts where the relationship has split or the woman lost interest /or had no interest in the first place ...

are women and couples really that motivated / nasty to just string along men and causes misery ...

or are men just lying to get attention by joining the everyday hordes of moaning men who are getting no where but wanting to make it look like they are hard done by ??
