Always test on the face and look at it in natural light.

Your trying to match your foundation to your chest colour, so when it's blended down you're not two toned.

Concealer 1-2 shades lighter than foundation, unless you want the super highlighter under eye, then go as light as you like.

If you need to hide any face shadow on the jaw area you may need to colour correct first.

Have a look on YouTube, as there are plenty of videos offering advice x

Thanks for the tips, I guess I just need to experiment with the colours.

YouTube is great but the real life implementation is the tricky bit,

Honestly, most makeup artists won't bat their false eyelashes over who's asking them for help.

A lot of makeup counters have guys working on them now as well. I've seen male makeup artists at both makeup forever and illamasqua counters.

Just make sure you go for full coverage L'Oréal total cover is a high coverage drugstore foundation.

Estee lauder double wear is full coverage and long wearing.

If you'd prefer something more animal friendly I've heard good things about about the kat von d lock it foundation and the it cosmetics bb cream is full cover, and definitely shouldn't be call a bb cream.

If you want to be photographed in makeup just be aware that anything with an spf can potentially cause flashback, and avoid HD setting powders.

Boots do a colour match service, which is super quick and easy. They literally hold a device like a digital thermometer against your cheek, then tell you your colour!

Get yourself matched!

It doesn't matter which brand you use, if it's the wrong colour it'll look like shit!

You need to match your undertones as well as colour...any makeup counter will match your

That thing is crap! My friend was colour matched with it...the foundation they sold her is at least 3 shades out and has completely the wrong undertone! It's just not accurate.

I use the Boots match, I have 4 different shade foundations as I tan so easily, I can literally change colour in a matter of hours!

I agree about that device. I was using the wrong one for about 6 months because of it.

Went to the Urban Decay counter and got properly matched by a makeup artist. Get it done properly or you'll just spend ages and lots of money on something that's not right.

I hardly ever find my perfect match, generally mix two together, but then I'm particularly anal about it lol

Sounds like your friend had a bad experience. Both myself and my two daughters got matched perfectly.

"Estee Lauder do a brilliant colour match service "

Estee Lauder are excellent and they keep your details logged in case you forget your colour.

Mac on the other hand are rubbish, matched me in store and when I got into proper light I looked like a corpse.

I always go to the Make-up counters and get them to colour match me. They usually try 3 shades on you and pick the closest match for you. Happy shopping
