I want to take some toys abroad but as most are now rechargeable they need to be in hand luggage. Im really not keen on this incase we get stopped and they pull them out.

What are you ladies doing?

Really don't worry about it. They have seen it all before, and there is nothing about sex toys per se that pings the 'pull it' alert.

But a) check the country you're travelling to allow sex toys, as they are banned in some countries and b) if cruising, handcuffs are not allowed if you're departing from UK - you have a big chance of your case getting pulled, both hand and hold.

Ha ha just take the batteries out, we had one start vibrating as we were boarding a flight from Greece. I'm not sure anyone noticed but I got hot and flustered rummaging through the bag to turn it off.

They can go in the hold as long as they don’t exceed 100Wh, are inside the device and are protected against being turned on accidentally.

We never see anyone at customs, the chances of getting stopped are so rare. If you do, they've seen it all before.

SW Scotland

Just back from pdi, I (Mr) took most of the toys, rechargeable wand etc in my carry on. Mrs took her tentacle in hers and it got flagged up on the way out.

Bag was marked to be searched as there was a large dense object in it. As the guy started to remove the towel that toy was wrapped in, Mrs explained it was a large adult toy. Poor lad quickly wrapped it back up and closed the bag.

I have taken a number of items when travelling, I get stopped almost every time at security, going out, and coming back at the opposite airport, so I will never put it in the hand luggage.

Although I don't have vibrating battery items to take, just clothing.

The same rules apply as if it were and electric toothbrush or rechargeable shaver so search for those items on the website of your carrier.

Most seem fine with these in the checked baggage.

We always take a ‘little something’ with us on trips. Sometimes the ‘something’ isn’t so little! Hold baggage or carry on, we’ve never had any issues.

Can go in the hold. Then if your bag gets searched you won’t be there to see their reaction 😂

We take them away many places

Take toys with no batteries, removable batteries or mains powered and then place them in the hold. Don’t be tempted to take them in your carry on luggage you’ll be destined for embarrassment, trust me I know!!

Double check the rules of entry of your chosen destination. I had a vibrator confiscated at Dubai airport.

ok having done the xray security i can tell you that once we have seen them the first time we loose interest in the them because they are not a threat item.

although you can tell what they are on the xray images as everything does show up.

toys are not something that security are keeping an eye on.

if you do take them, make sure that they are placed in such a way to able to bee seen easily on the xray. you know the way that your bag goes in the tray.

The battery powered toys I travel with all have a hard shell plastic case (like a glasses case, or one an electric toothbrush goes in) - almost impossible for them to accidentally switch on, which used to be my main fear. Haven’t had an issue with hand-luggage security yet! But frankly, they’ll always have seen a lot, lot worse.

We have taken our toys to pdi with us - just batteries out (as we didnt want flat batteries when we got there hehe) and you’ll be fine!

This was in our hand luggage and hold.

Yes, definitely check if sex toys are allowed into the country, and if they’re banned then choose a better country to travel to.

If you're taking a rechargeable toy, then it's better to discharge the battery first.

I'm sure that you know how!

If in hand luggage, you need to put all electrical items in one of those plastic trays.

So unless it's in its own case discresetion goes out of the window.
