Secrets, Cita - Update anyone?

Hiya, we're due out in PDI on 20th January. Can someone give us an update on Secrets and charges etc since the revamp. Single guys is our thing and always good place to meet.

More people at friday and saturday,always very crowded only perhaps this weekend a little less because of the opening of a new club.

Managed to pursued my wife to go into Secret last week. We never been before and she was very apprehensive. Was made very welcome but at 58 and 56yrs we felt out of place and too old to play.

Are there any other clubs more suitable for our age group? Be great if someone could advise.

I was their recently not very good for single guys or couples it is now just simply trying to make money out of tourists it wasnt nearly as busy as seen in past because i think its badly run new changes mean singles can only go to bar area and one small area which is full of aggressive locals seen them try to kick door down where couple were staff done nothing go to smaller clubs FUN4ALL PATRICIAS u will get plenty single men in cinema too or claudia casers or try moonlight or eternity in nilo centre still good in these and well run only what i found shame because used to love secrets

Went to fun4all last night it was ok nice ppl in the some one said secrets was dead bar local guys, seems to be common news here they r ripping the tourist for what they can get atm, weather that will change in the busy season remains to be seen, but new management seem to have ruined what it use to be, but with new clubs opening dont think many will be bothered.x

Secrets under new management? Unless something has changed between now and the middle of November I don’t know.

What I do know is late last year they refurbed the club and whilst I was taken back with the changes initially, as the days went on, I actually enjoyed and appreciated the changes.

From an entrance point of view, you pay at the door. Considering we drink cocktails at around €8/€9 a glass and the typical minimum spend for couples is €20. It was neither here nor there to pay at the door €20 which includes 2 drinks. Giving an option of €30 including 4, obviously offers more value.

In terms of changes, it is more plush and changed for the better. Granted I’m not the biggest fan of vip seating, but nevertheless, the changes make it more classy.

I think the fact they have a distinguished left side for couples only and right that allows single men is a good thing. It’s clear then to single men if couples are interested in men, they can head this side whilst couples that aren’t can continue in an area that is dedicated to them.

Whilst there was a dedicated couples area before, the changes are better as there is open play areas and private too.

Now when we were there in October/November, there was a chap at the entrance of the couples area to manage this. There were a couple of moments where a single male had managed to get through, but they were immediately escorted out of the area, and on one occasion I saw a male had to leave the premises.

Personally I think they do a great job and it has always felt safe in the years I’ve been. It might be better to have a clear sign in English/Spanish/German to state its couples only, no single men to cover all tracks.

Now the management and senior staff, we personally know for many years, and would consider them friends; granted they are running a business and are looking to make money, but in all these years, they’ve been friendly, warm, genuine and have always made us feel welcomed and safe. For this reason, we have continued to go back to secret.

The same could be said for Imagine Bar, they have made some significant changes, adding a play room and a door to the entrance, so you just can’t walk in. A change for the better.

If there has been a change of management recently, I don’t know but the changes to the club last year were not because of a shift of ownership but a business change.

I take issue with the above saying changes have made it better I WOULD SAY EXACT OPPOSITE SECRETS IS JUST BEEN RUINED BY MANAGEMENT AND CHANGES.

EXAMPLES cost 50 euro for single guy meant to get 2 drinks always only ever gave me 1 drink even when i asked so just ripping you off

Met girl went in as couple 20 euros same patter 1 drink then if you wanted towel and locker another 10 euros

SINGLE LOCAL MEN HALF THEM THEIR PALS RUNNING AMOK they do nothing about them their the ones that spoil that club and they dnt charge them 50 euros

An interesting read and there’s always going to be some contrast when opinions are subjective and the couple vs single man experience, though I note you went in with a couple.

I would certainly disagree with your statement that it’s not classy. The enclosed vip areas are way more stylish and adds a level of sophistication (I’m sure classy defines style and sophistication). As would I also state that the play areas have improved somewhat. Improved decor, ambient lighting, new furniture would all suggest a major improvement from black curtains and perspex partition that relied on light to make it look relatively nice.

As for being overcharged, we have went there 36 times in 5 years. Not once have we been overcharged. It’s always been accurate in our experience and we have been there with other swingers who have also been there many times over the years, which would suggest they’ve been happy with the club.

As for allowing people to go anywhere, I disagree. Clubs market themselves in a way for their clientele. As a single male, they’re always going to be the cash cow. Unfortunately, a number of males then believe it’s their right to do what they want because they’ve paid a premium. Couples don’t always want singles, they like to engage with other couples and as such they desire a private area to play with no unwanted interruption.

Whether Secret has the balance right between space allocated for couples vs mixed, I don’t know but my experience of Secret before the changes suggested there wasn’t a lot of couples that frequented the mixed areas preferring to stay in the smaller at the time couples area.

My assumption would be as this was quite busy, that management decided to utilise the space in a better way giving more floor to the couples.

As a 900m2 venue, I believe the space is optimised and endorse the changes.

You sound like a very disgruntled single male and if there has been a case of you being incorrectly charged on more than one occasion, then I would understand your frustration. But I can’t foresee this being a regular or common occurrence because you have a wristband with a number on and you show this number when ordering your drink and it is then recorded against your tab.

I would probably suggest that anyone that has such an experience in any venue (that they would like to frequent but are suspicious of how they charge) would be to request not having a tab but pay for drinks as you go along.

I have also been in secrets many times not just as a single guy thats why i can see things from both sides they always try to overcharge you thats why they like tabs so they hope people dont bother or notice ive paid with cash but they dnt like that as your couples argument their is lots of play areas with locked doors if you dnt want attention and without single males half these clubs wouldnt be their im always respectful as single or couple its just a thing called manners its local singles that usually behave badly thats down to bad management i only give an unbiased opinion because i like people to enjoy their selves and not get ripped off

Before the changes we heard that they would overcharge for drinks but never experienced it ourselves.

We always preferred secrets over the other clubs and yes you can get some single local men that can be a bit excitable but we have never experienced over charging and always had fun in both couples and mixed areas... back in March so as with many others will watch this thread with interest... maybe we will just stay even later in imagine bar ...

We've been going to pdi 2 or 3 times a year for several years now and out of all the bars and clubs, Imagine bar and Secrets were our favourites visiting most evenings (imagine bar still is).

We have to say, we have never had any issues in any clubs, kiosk 4 or in the dunes.

However, last April in Secrets we were overcharged and the 'new'fella behind the bar was quite verbally aggressive and awkward when challenged over it.

After 10 mins or so the usual girl behind the bar just said its ok and that was the end of the matter.

But it wasn't because on our return to pdi in October, we didn't feel comfortable going into secrets (just don't need the mither tbh) plus in the mean time, lots of friends of ours had also visited secrets and been subjected to some awful antics from groups if local single men (i emphasise local).

So, for us a new couples club is ideal and we will be visiting it in April.

As to entrance charges on the door; we're ok with it as long as it includes a set amount of drinks (i know some people don't drink!) and any subsequent drinks prices are advertised so you know the price beforehand.

Anyway, we're looking forward to visiting in April and meeting friends old and new in the Imagine bar, Comeback bar, Gatsbys, kiosk 4, fun 4 all etc BUT CERTAINLY NOT SECRETS!

Just want to say we have just got back from our New Years trip to GC and Secrets was fantastic virtually every night !!! Busy, sexy, full of atmosphere. The new couples area is well policed. The mixed area is also fun ( great prison bars) . And as for admission prices, E20 for two large drinks with mixers included, what a deal ? Where else in the UK or Europe is such good value ( and never had a problem with overcharging by the way) ...

So is the locker and towels included in the €20 or €5 as before or is it now an extra €10 ..

Totally understand your viewpoint, as it was ours prior to that experience and similar and worse experiences of our friends.

Like I said, it was our favourite club and we had also heard of other people being overcharged prior to it happening to us and we thought they were just your typical forum moaners lol.

Hopefully its been sorted out now, so we will monitor the Secrets feedback on here and decide once we're there.

This is great news, not what we been told from ppl when we were out in GC last week, think its a marmite case either u like it or not, didnt get there but will in March or Oct.

€20 entrance +2 drinks (cpl)

€10 entrance +1 drink (sgl F)

€5 extra for a locker with 2 towels

Been a great atmosphere there all week
