Favourite hotel in PDI?

Cheltenham

We wondered what everyone’s favourite hotel is in PDI? We have been on several occasions and really like Gold by Marina. Hotel standard is very good, facilities are great & location is ideal for Cita & Yumbo.

We generally dont want the full on 24/7 swinging action, so the Gold ticks all the boxes for us.

Would be great to get other peoples views on hotel choices on here as I think it would help newbies going to PDI for the first time as well as regulars looking for a new hotel choice.

We prefer private apartments to the hotels more for quietness etc and price wise we can normally squeeze in more visits that way , quality has always been good and location perfect if you look around

Always use AirBnB or Booking and not yet been in a poor apartment. Maybe been lucky but four different venues have al been great.

Playa del Ingles for a week

Would love to try a private apt or Villa but so scared of it being awful. Just been reading on a PDI Facebook site about peeps having to move to a hotel after a horrendous experience in a booking.com apt. Any recommendations welcome because any I look at work out quite expensive for just the 2 of us.

We love Gold, agree with op that it’s great if you don’t want full on action. We have stayed in La Mirage twice also and it’s actually lovely and not full on. Just mostly naked but we didn’t do that and there was no prob. Tried Gran Canaria Princess once. Ok just too big a hotel for us and limited sun at the pools

A friend stayed in HL Suite hotel and liked it.

Birmingham

We like the Buenos Aires. It’s right on the doorstep of the Yumbo, bus from the airport goes straight there, clean self catering apartments with a pool not on roadside. Pool food is decent & reasonably priced, as are drinks. All at a decent per night cost. A WiFi router/booster in each room ensures good connectivity so I can work when abroad.

We also stayed at the Don Miguel, also near the Yumbo. Adults only and a decent pool area. Breakfast included and pretty decent. Good WiFi in the rooms and pool and they also have a shuttle bus that takes you to Maspalomas and PDI beach and back.

Rey Carlos by the Cita was ok as long as you pick their standard room, as they’ve been renovated so nice and modern. Stay in 401 or 501 at the corner and there’s nice views. Main vice was for a modern kitchen there is no kettle or toaster, and WiFi isn’t great.

Rey Carlos- good value for money if it’s just a place to sleep!

Much better places to stay but you pay for it.

Last visit, we stayed at the Don Miguel- lovely comfortable bed but poolside can get rammed.

Airbnb worked well for us, read reviews and if you look at the exterior pictures, you generally can work out where it is located, or so we found. Also don't be scared to message the owners and ask where it is and if any discounts are available, if you don't ask, you don't get. Loved the space compared to hotels, the freedom to sunbathe naked and the overall feeling of privacy. We compared prices to Gold and found it comparable, hence why we've asked the question, is Gold worth it?

We love the playa del sol right next to the yumbo, it's adult only pool and bar area is great, the big thing for us is the naked sunroof which the beds are perfect not like the normal sunnlongers and can push them together

We concur with what ' The_other_guys' wrote. A bit of patience and move the map around (you will see what I mean when you go to the website). There is a wealth of choice. We have had apartments with private roof terraces (one was on top of the Koka building) and very private gardens.

Points of note that may be dealbreakers for some:

Generally speaking, the premisses will not be cleaned whilst you are there.

There has always been 'unexpected features' not mentioned in the advert. e.g. aircon was old and not that efficient, plumbing was the old-fashioned european style of waste pipes, owners teenage son came round every other day to water the lawn (he got on eyeful on the first occasion) etc etc but for us that just adds to the adventure and nothing has made us even pause for thought that we might have got a bad'un.

Final point, keep an eye on the cancellation policy for each listing. A very few allow no changes whilst others allow for a full refund upto 24hrs before arrival.

I prefer bungalows were you have your own little garden if you like for sunbathing. Parquamar is nice, Santa Fe bungalows are nice. These are affordable accommodations that are clean, quiet and central. Hotels such as Gold are very nice too but Gold has got way too expensive for what you need.

We love the Gold Hotel and find it reasonable for the standard of rooms, pool areas and breakfasts etc. However getting lots of opinions and giving FAB members good advice is always welcome x

Lots & lots of swingers bars and clubs in PDI. Generally all situated in either Cita or Yumbo although there are a few others around as well. Check each clubs/bars rules etc as some nights maybe couples only and other nights allow singles in x

Stayed in PDI several times, and stayed at probably the most popular hotels:

Gold (as a couple), lovely hotel, great location, breakfast fab, roof terrace (non-naturist) with hot tub.

Abora Catarina (with friends), naturist terrace, lots of like-minded people, food and drink ok.

HL Suites (as couple), prob favourite cos of the rooftop terraces - one naturist and the other not. Multiple hot tubs on both sides with a bar in the middle. Drinks good, food ok.

To choose one? Prob HL….

Thought about trying somewhere different but plumped for Gold again this October. Unbeatable in our opinion in terms of location, poolside vibes and a stunning brekkie lol.

We also love the Scirocco bar two minutes away on foot for cold beers and people watching x

Everyone mentions the breakfast at Gold, is it continental, or is there hot options? Just curious, as have only ever had pool bar food there before.

We've stayed and going to be staying again at an apartment/villa called RG Villas which is opposite the Gold on the corner of the Rd. Perfect location, and very clean. Rooms aren't massive and has about 8-9 rooms in the building. A small but heated swimming pool with some sun beds. Lovely and quiet and great for "guests" lol.
