Hi all, just a couple of quick questions. I'm thinking of heading over to PDI for a break in a week or 2. First, the bars- I've read up on here they all seem to be in CITA or Yumbo- with CITA being more popular it seems. Are there none elsewhere in the town, on the beachfront etc? Secondly, accommodation, a quick search on Trivago suggests there is loads available- 300+ places for my dates -is it actually necessary to book in advance or can you turn up at most and scope the place out before deciding? Cheers

. Under the current Spanish government law you have to fill in a locater form stating the premises you are staying at and the duration of your stay so atm I would say no you can't just turn up.

Agreed you do have yo put where you are staying on the SPTH form. But how much of this is actually checked? Trust me none of it!! I could tell you a few stories, so go ahead and do whatever you like.

If someone on your flight out tests positive and you aren't where you say you are when they contact you then good luck getting on your flight home. It has happened.

The form actually asks where you are staying the first night and whether you are there for all your visit. When we were in GC in October, our 1st night was in a hotel, before we moved to Venus. We filled in details for the hotel and indicated that it wasn’t our address for the full trip. I expected to have to fill in our details for the other nights - but no. So maybe just booking the first night is the way to do it.

But we aren’t bailing you out if you do this and get locked up ??.

This

There is a very good reason for the forms.

With your first question, there’s lots of places other than the Cita and Yumbo. There are commercial centres (CC) galore in PDI, but these are two of the main ones. Cita has the majority for swingers venues, and Yumbo for the LGBT community. Otherwise you can venture around and find other places, be it another CC like the Kasbah or down on the beach front for Chicken and Chips or cocktails at the Tipsy Hammock. Spoilt for choice. Just think holiday resort but a liberal and tolerant one.

The second question, I wouldn’t just turn up. Most accommodation in terms of hotels/apartments is relatively cheap (especially booking in advance) and have a similar layout. It’s just a matter of whereabouts you want to stay in PDI.

For us, we will always stay close to the Yumbo and you’ve got places to stay like the Buenos Aires, Playa del Sol that are next to the Yumbo. You are then circa 15 minutes or less walking distance to the Cita, Sandia, Beach Front, Kasbah, Gran Chaparral, Nilo etcetera.

Nothing that a google maps won’t help out to get an idea of location and hotels.

And if you want a virtual walk- instant street view.

Thanks all, that is lots of useful info- and yes it does seem potentially less hassle to book accommodation beforehand, and I've spotted a nicely located place with a decent pool. See you there...
