Is PDI back to "normal"

Thinking of going to PDI first week in December for a week or 10 days, which is my normal time to go pre pandemic.

Are the dunes open as usual to wander around or does anyone know if they are being actively policed?

I understand the fenced off areas have been rightly been official no-go areas for several years. But are the unfenced areas open as usual.

How busy is PDI compared to 2019, are bars n clubs getting back to usual or are they still like a ghost town?

Hi. The dunes are closed. You can walk around them on the path but as for going through them, for any reason, it's not allowed. They are patrolled as well. A few weeks ago a gentleman who comes to our club was stopped by a patrol while walking through the dunes, totally innocently, and was almost fined 600€. As I tell anyone who asks about the dunes, if you wanna risk it for a biscuit then do. It is totally at your own risk.

As for clubs etc, things are picking up. Alot of people are on their way this week and most places are booked right until January. There are tonnes of threads and November/December lists on here if you do a bit of searching.

Many thanks for the reply.

It's an awful long walk around the coast line to kiosk 7 nudist area, far quicker taking the paths thru the dunes but I guess the walk will do us good.

Still a pity as lots of folks there caused no harm and stayed out of the fenced off areas.

Well as long as the bars are on the way up , we will be on our way on the 4th.

Many thanks for the reply

PDI 12-26th Nov 24

Still loads of men roaming the dunes but no couples that we saw.

Kiosk 6 (4) is now dead and very few people most people are right at the other end of the beach

We saw many men pissing all over the place, even walking into the small fenced off area of plants directly behind k6 to piss and one guy right on top of the dunes in the spot we were going to lie down. I know there's no toilet but ffs walk into the sea it's absolutely disgusting and I keep thinking of setting up a facebook page to post photos of them at work.

Its not just the men. Women have to go as well. I saw one just squat, pull her bottoms to the side and go...about 5 yds from where everyone was walking.

Didn't even create any distance.

Its a strange place PDI.

Jim, I'm thinking of heading back to PDI for the 1st week of Dec too. As you have said its your usual time to go, how has the weather been in Dec. Still nice enough to lie out all day and get a tan? Thanks

Weather is fine to sunbathe and still need cream. Get the occasional day of high winds making the beaches like a giant sand blaster. But I’d say 90% of time it’s good enough by British standards. Can’t remember having to put a sweater on for the evenings either tho some folks do.

Thanks Jim. I experienced that sand blasting 1 day 2 weeks ago in the dunes. Im ok with that, once majority of days are sunny.

Yeah I saw the pissers as well, and so close to the sea- lazy f*ckers. Still a bit of action in the dunes but not as much and mainly nearer to the sea than before and late afternoon. Isolated people walking all over the dunes last week; fail to see how they can police this effectively anyway. The main Path from Rui Palace at Playa to the ‘gentlemen's’ naked beach is still in full use as is the branch towards the camel gate. Any signs there may have been saying you can’t go past the wooden posts have been torn down and replaced with demands to give the dunes back to the people! Playa and Meloneras certainly back to almost normal level of busyness for half term and hotel was full.

Just wanted to hear from someone who has been there recently rather than people just guessing.

Regardless, I am going and looking forward to meeting the wonderful visitors of PDI.

Quite the opposite of what we’ve seen. We’ve just had a mad time for the last 9 days. Met loads of great fun people from many countries. It’s been superb, be that vanilla, gay, sports or swinging bars; and even had time for a beautiful steak at Marco Polo.

Why the aggressive reply NI Two?

The question was not an accusation at all.

Many thanks to those replying it is appreciated.

Although judging by the polar opposite views in last couple of posts it may be some areas are not as lively as others. But thanks to all for trying to give their feedback.

I don’t think it was aggressive bud.

But just to share our experience. We walked around the Yumbo last night and the bars were heaving. We’ve just had friends FaceTime us from the Yumbo and it was even busier according to them.

We walked around Sandia and many bars packed there. Gran Chaparral although quieter still has a few bars packing. Halloween at the Nilo in Eden was a relatively busy one.

Walked down to the beach for chicken and chips and again very busy. Sahara, restaurants on the front. Plenty of people.

And then the Cita. Not only during the swinging pub crawl, but other days, we walked around the place and packed out. Thursday night we had steak at Marco Polo. Grabbed the last outside table. Carlos V was equally as busy.

Also went to Maclennans last Sunday. Packed out in a sea of blue.

I’m not sure if anyone else has a contrast of opinion but based on what we saw, it’s been the busiest we’ve seen it in lots of places, and not just a certain area.

We came back on Thursday after two weeks in Gold. PDI back to normal. Pubs and restaurants heaving. Good mix of all nationalities. Brilliant friendly, happy atmosphere everywhere.

But then again, we actively avoid the sort of atmosphere vacuums who consider Germans ignorant (what a complete nonsense) and seek out the English bars on holiday.

Some folk may be better going to Benidorm for a full English, pint of bitter and an elvis tribute act.

If you want to risk a fine then yes. Lol.

And despite what I've been told it is NOT a myth. I had a gentleman in my club a few weeks ago who was stopped and questioned while walking through the dunes to his car. He WAS fined 600€ for being there.

Some people may do it and not get caught and good for them but it's not always like that.
