We're having a chat tonight about it. We might just put it off until later. Don't mind it being quiet so much as it's what you make it. It's just the ten day quarantine that's putting us off.

This tweet from EasyJet only a few minutes ago. Worth noting if you are flying with them. They are following Spanish government rules with regard to testing. This is to board the plane.

"Hi, you will need to follow the national guidelines advised by the Spanish government and not the Canary Island. https://t.co/JoOm3FyMBG. We are trying to get more information to assist our passengers, however at the moment only PCR tests are acceptable - Thanks"

Interesting and very useful info thanks we were going to change our pre booked pcr test to antigen, just because it’s less intrusive and you get results back in an hour, but we’ll deff hang fire now! X

We were the same, but the prices were similar so didn't bother. And the rest and test hotel just seems such a straightforward way of doing things, and who doesn't love an extra night in a hotel the night before hols?

Fly out on the 19thBirmingham. Got a lamp test at Manchester airport, booked and tested on the same day, results emailed within 90mins. If you are getting a LAMP rest at Manchester, ask at the test centre door first as 99% of people are there for PCR tests and they will get you in pronto.

I don't know where people are getting their mis-information from.

Yes it's quiet, half the places are open but it doesn't take long to come across a busy place if you want it. I'm typing this in a restaurant now.

Perhaps they're jealous at the fact we've escaped Boris's Britain for a few days and enjoying the sun, sea, warm weather and meeting new friends.

And the people hadn't passed a Covid-19 test in the last couple of days...

In essence you have a Covid-19 free contingent flying to one one of the lowest Covid-19 regions in Europe. Anyone who has a problem with that needs to focus their attention on a problem which is causing 1000's of infections on a daily basis in the UK...

"good shouldn't being going ANYWAY!!!!

Is that because your trip in November didn’t go ahead ? Seem to remember you booked a trip a few weeks ago. GC is perfectly safe. Was only 29 people on my flight and no one in the airport at all. See more people than that at the local coop.

Not that I give a four X but trying to justified a wrong because it is not as bad as another wrong is never a good argument. "

Who is justifying anything? I am saying if people want to go off on a crusade their energy would be better utilised by focusing on the real problem rather than tilting at windmills.

Travelling is not against law there are circumstances where it is necessary.

Why are people so focused on travel when it represents a miniscule cause of transmission? Now with compulsory testing in place what is so wrong about it?

Sounds like sour grapes to me.

Do yourself a favour and go over to the virus section of this forum and you will find a host of people who don't believe any of the restrictions apply to them. These people are responsible for thousands of transmissions daily. Or... you can choose to judge people whose circumstances you don't know and who will not be able to travel unless they have tested negative....

We had a holiday travel ban at the end of November and the numbers still sky rocketed.

The problem with restrictions is they aren't enforced. Bringing out harsher restrictions that also aren't enforced simply means people will have more rules to ignore. Our main problem here is we have a government more focused on Brexit than a pandemic.

Actually I can't see one person on this thread who has said they are planning to go on holiday subsequent to the 4pm announcement of restrictions. Even then the restrictions only apply to tier 4.

"Covid: Video shows crowds of passengers cramming in to train leaving London ahead of Tier 4 lockdown"

https://www.itv.com/news/2020-12-19/covid-video-shows-crowds-of-passengers-cramming-in-to-train-leaving-london-ahead-of-tier-4-lockdown

Apparently it is fine for thousands of untested people to cram onto trains (as opposed to a practically empty plane full of certifiably uninfected passengers) provided they aren't going somewhere warm and sunny.

Who's justifying.

Scratch where it itches.

The article shown here is an example of where transmission occurs.

If one was to apply the pareto principle to fighting Covid-19 then air travel wouldn't even be considered.

It is frustrating to see pedantic people nit picking low incidence root causes while they ignore the main problems. If we are all such experts on Covid-19 then why do we have such a poor track record?

Here is a quote from another article:

"Travellers were told that social distancing "will not be possible" due to the volume of people on board, and those that felt "uncomfortable" should not stay on the train"

So because something is a low incidence root causes

it is ok to do it. Could that not be a little bit of the reason why we have such a poor track record?

Your comments are so hit and miss . Why did you feel it was ok to book a holiday last month and yet now wishing people that also booked catch it ?

Can’t see you making many new friends when you go back there.

I don’t think people go to Gran Canaria just for a shag . I certainly don’t . Like it’s been said above everyone that goes to GC has to have a negative test so it’s a much safer environment than being here.

If you are in Tier 3 or below it is still permitted to travel to Gran Canaria as long as you self isolate on return. So, if people want to go they can crack on.

As many on here have said you will be safer than in the U.K. and the chances of infecting others is very low as you will be self isolating on return.

For those implying that people are somehow being irresponsible by travelling to PDI you are talking rubbish.

Check the FCO website travel is still permitted to Gran Canaria.

People are exercising their right to choose within the law.

For those in Tier 4 I have nothing but sympathy but you are not permitted to travel.

I don't need to have test because I live in GC and can self isolate on arrival. Despite this fact I have booked a PCR test.

Those wishing to see me poorly in hospital are going to be very disappointed because having just arrived from GC I have been self isolating for 10 days...
