Cap d’Agde, France

Two weeks after the new year revelry there'll be another surge in infections, then Boris will dither for another month as the Scientists scream at him to lockdown.

Eventually at the end of Feb, 3 weeks after the rest of Europe, the UK will shut down which will last 2 months again.

So holidays in the Spring..... I'd wait and see or be ready to go at the drop of a hat!

We have a holiday home in Spain so can't wait to get out there again but personally don't think there is a cat in hells chance that holidays will be back to normal by April. The Spanish government aren't any where near as advanced in either buying vaccines or in preparation for vaccination as we are. A friend who is a Gp over there is not expecting any vaccine until March at best

April 2021 will be 13 months after the first lockdown

The vaccine is not 100% effective so you may have to stay at hone in the uk for a long time to come.

In all likelihood g Canaria will be a lot safer than wet n windy uk

I would suggest contacting them directly. It used to be you could only book a certain amount of time in advance, 9 or 10 months? We don't stay there but I'm sure somebody else can give you the information.

Never thought I would say this but I wouldn’t be that confident that the virus will be in control by December. I would be very wary about paying out too much on a holiday at the moment, it’s very obvious that some of the current holiday offers are designed to get customers to pay a deposit to improve current cash flow issues for travel companies.

Getting the jab isn’t necessarily going to make any difference though. Spanish government are a long way behind ours with preparation for vaccination and mask wearing is likely to continue until the end of the year at best.

I have a friend who is an A&E consultant working in one of Birmingham’s biggest hospitals. When I asked him a couple of days ago how he saw things progressing he said that he would be surprised if the infection rate at the end of March was any lower than it is now. He is expecting the current lockdown to last a long time.

I genuinely think that if you want to book anything with a serious chance of going you are looking at August onward. Potentially things could improve quickly in the UK if the vaccination programme goes to plan but that’s unlikely in Spain, they have made a much slower start to their vaccinations than we have and don’t seem to have any sort of coordinated plan.

I agree but think if this is going to become the norm it should either be included in the cost of the trip

Or a lot cheaper inline with other countries no one is going to pay 75 -150 per test per person to go abroad.would mean international travel would only be viable to the rich and elite

"We have never been before, was looking at October 1st for seven nights but really unsure if we should book ? "

It's a tough one. On one hand you could book and it doesn't happen and then you'll be gutted OR you can book it all goes ahead and you have an amazing holiday.

October is sooooooo far away as well. Might be worth clearing the dates you want in your calendar and waiting until nearer the time.

If October happens I can guarantee it will be ROCKING over here.

Peak swingers season, Pride events, Freedom Week. And all those pent up, horny people who missed out on GC last year as well.

Good advice. In my view 1st October is 50/50 at the moment. If you do get there you will have a great time though. We are going to see what the situation is at the end of April.

Hi we have just had our holiday canceled by TUI 24 th April same hotel

Gutted

TUI given a 20% incentive to rebook

But this hotel is very expensive later in the year

Thinking of off Booking Gold although

Not all inclusive Any thoughts on Gold ?

"We’ve booked accommodation for April but need to get the nod from work.

Like the world, we watching the coming weeks/months with interest.

The way it’s looking, I think April is going to be ambitious. With regret, we’ll likely push back to October/November."

With regret we’ve now cancelled our accommodation for April, though flights prices look good.

We’ll aim for October/November and hopefully the world is a better place and can enjoy our holiday as we did in November 19, not that we didn’t enjoy November 20.
