Comey indicted just because trump wants him punished ….. the so called leader of true democracy has twisted the DOJ to prosecute purely on suspicion. The behaviour of a warped authoritarian mind….. he is a risk to anyone who has an opinion other than the one he believes in.

He's going after anyone who doesn't bend the knee.

Gripes about Comey and Kimmel will probably have completely drifted out of his consciousness though as the latest thing is EscalatorGate - the sinister sabotage and near disaster of the UN escalator stopping - probably caused by one of his video guys travelling backwards accidentally touching the stop button. There's a crack team of Secret Service agents looking into it.

Then the teleprompter not working - again being blamed on the UN even though it was being operated by White House staff.

Then him complained that the PA wasn't loud enough. It's quite low-level so that people can listen to translations via an earphone.

Trump is a thin-skinned baby as well as a tyrant.

I regretably lost nearly an hour of my life listening to his rant to the GA which was supposed to be just a 15 minute long welcoming speech. Although at one level it might have been worth it for comedy value.

Don’t worry…. Trump has meddled so much with the case, it will likely be thrown out for malicious prosecution

Whenever I see Trump now I can't stop visualising the South Park Satan standing behind him, looking really bored and disappointed.

Under Biden, Bannon and Navarro went to jail.

Not to mention loads of J6 protestors.

If Comey hasn’t broken the law he has nothing to fear.

This is how it works no?

The Democrats were warned what would happen…..

Biden did not instruct the AG to prosecuted Bannon and Navarro. It was done on the balance if evidence.

Trump instructed the AG to prosecute Comey, when the AG told him there was no evidence of wrong doing Trump sacked the AG and put a lackey in place who had never prosecuted or defended a single criminal case or presented to a grand jury. She created a two count indictment where both counts were the same "crime" for which there is no evidence.

J6 "protestors" attacked the Capitol building. They destroyed property, beat up multiple police persons, chanted "Hang Mike Pense", all on national and international television. They were criminals. They were charged and found guilty in a court of Law and received the appropriate sentences. Trump pardoned them all.

Under Trump, the rule of Law is suspended. Comey's chances of a fair trial will depend on the courage, honesty and integrity of the Judge appointed to his case.

Democrats are powerless to stop Trump until after the mid-terms. That is IF Trump allows them to go ahead.

“The rule of law is suspended”. Hysterical drivel.

Comey was indicted by a federal grand jury in Virginia on two counts: making a false statement to Congress and obstruction of a congressional proceeding. Each is a very serious matter punishable by up to five years in prison.

If “the rule of law is suspended” presumably he would just be in jail or have been disappeared somehow. Instead he’ll get a trial in front of a Biden appointed judge in a Democrat majority area.

You are rambling in support of trump not in the slightest way applicable to the aspect of fair and unbiased law. The DOJ acted to charge Comey purely because it the statute of limitations was due to expire next week, not because they have legitimate reasons to prosecute. trump is only interested in behaving in a singulariy autocratic and authoritarian style….. a pure degenerate

How is this news to anyone? Trump has signalled very clearly the kind of individual he is. He has explicitly said he was going to go after people so his vindictiveness is clear for everyone to see.

The bigger question is whether a _new_ Congress will, at some point in the future, pass laws to stop this kind of behaviour. The current legal framework does, apparently, allow a president to use the legal system to silence dissent.

Everyone seem fixated on the president and no one is questioning how Congress has allowed this. Curbing the presidents powers would seem like a wise choice for the next Congress to go after.

It's down to the poor drafting of Article 2 of the US Constitution. Most US citizens have been brought up to think that the constitution is close to perfection but it's a bit of a mess.

So we have conservative think tanks like the Heritage Foundation and the Federalist Society pushing the concept of "Unitary Executive Theory". The idea started under Reagan but Project 2025 promotes it as the way for Trump to completely refashion the US as effectively his personal kingdom. And unfortunately the Supreme Court is now so packed with conservatives that they are no longer a barrier to authoritarianism.

Actually the DOJ went to the grand jury with five charges, both they were the only 2 they could get to stick….

And even then the fact that there is a memo signed by a lot of lawyers in that department stating that there is not even enough evidence to charge (basically protecting themselves from the inevitable investigation that’s coming) shows its a weak case

The smoking gun is the deleted tweet where trump was ordering bondi to charge screams malicious prosecution,

I don’t think comey is in the worst position… because if it goes to trial, the government will open themselves up to discovery… and they are going to have to turnover so many files it will be a goldmine

“Mike Johnson is refusing to swear in Representative-Elect Adelita Grijalva who won her race for the Arizona 7th Congressional District this week. Grijalva will be the 218th and final signature needed on a discharge petition to force a floor vote in the House on releasing the Epstein files.

Johnson is claiming he wants to wait until her election results are official, despite Grijalva’s dominant 40-point win and Arizona Secretary of State Adrian Fontes certifying her victory. Johnson’s new standard of waiting for all the votes to be counted was not in place two weeks ago when he swore in Democrat James Walkinshaw of Virginia with unofficial results immediately after his victory. Johnson has also routinely sworn in Republicans the day after their race is called”

Nothing to see here

In theory he only needs to hang it out till Tuesday to delay it further as it looks like there is going to be a government shutdown

So keep them out till that is sorted…..
