"Police banned the wearing of face coverings by protesters in the vicinity of a migrant hotel. They also declared that anyone protesting on the public highway would be arrested. They have enforced this for those protesting against the asylum hotels, arresting on site anyone wearing a face covering that won’t remove it and even arresting people for just crossing the road. 300 yards up the road a group of counter protesters, all wearing face coverings, were e s c o r t e d down the middle of the road by police as they chanted threats of violence. How does the Met Police think this will be viewed? At what level are the decisions being made to take this political stance. The trust between public and police is not exactly at an all time high. I feel for the frontline constables who have no choice but to go along with this if they want to keep their jobs. " And in other news 500 arrests for asking for peace in Palestine.

" If they had placards saying peace in Palestine they wouldn't have been arrested.. Supporting a proscribed organisation is why they were nicked.. And why the leaders of that group told them to write their support knowing that would be the only outcome.. Their goodwill and outrage about the situation (pretty much everyone wants peace, that's not a surprise) is being exploited in a deliberate challenge to the State by an organisation that is fine with direct criminal acts..

"Thanks for sending me the link. If you think she's an independent journalist then I dread to think what a partisan one would be like. It's a hundred or so counter protesters packed together peacefully wallking (apart from one guy in a wheelchair) down the road surrounded by police. Many of them are wearing medical masks like we had during covid. If people protesting against asylum seekers were arrested for wearing similar masks then that's obviously unfair, but there's no footage of those protesters so we don't know what happened. The narrator first says many people were arrested for wearing a mask then it changes to one person has been arrested for wearing a mask. She says the counter-protesters were all masked and with balaclavas, looking really intimidating with their "security". I think I might have seen one balaclava, but no intimidation or "security". I heard them chanting stuff like the people united will never be defeated and refugees are welcome here. There's something about racist scum and fighting back against fascism. Is that what you meant by "chanted threats of violence"? Did you hear something threatenng violence that I wasn't able to pick out? " The police are their “security” The cop admitted that he didn’t know why the two different protests were treated differently and pointed them to the press office to find out. There were masks and balaclavas where the police had ordered protesters not to wear them so they could be identified but the police did nothing to one group but arrested members of another group. They arrested one group for being on the public highway and the other group walked down the highway’s chaperoned by police. How is that not two tier policing? And unlike many on here, I’d be saying the same if it was the other way around

If I do not like what you say because I am complicit in what you say, well you have given me power to do what I like, which is making your power a terrorist and mine a Leagle democracy even though the Leagle democracy is killing on mass. go fu0k off you silly people." This is bullshit, the whole thing is some bollocks from Facebook. That people get their news like this is basically the end of any hope for society.

The police officer being questioned obviously wasn't capable of giving a legal commentary on the situation. He's was just doing his job. Did the journalist talk to the press office and get a response? If you have another link showing what happened with the anti-asylum seeker protest then please share. Or any details on arrests or charges against those protesters.

"What's really interesting here is that there's no acknowledgement of a broader context. I.e., why would they police treat two groups of "protesters" differently? Is it because historically, asylum centres have been targets of violence (including arson and attempted murder) by far-right groups? Is it because whipping up anti-migrant sentiment in the wake of an alleged crime against a minor is a commonplace far-right tactic that never fails to result in violence? Similarly, is it because anti-raxism protests are almost always broadly peaceful and have no ulterior motive or dog-whistle subtext? You're talking about two different groups of people with two very different motives and goals here. You might as well describe the difference between how police treat drug traffickers and how police treat white-collar criminals as "two-tier policing". There's a difference for a reason, and unless you're prepared to be honest about what the reason is, there's no point in having the discussion. " So you’ve had a conversation with chief constables who have admitted there is two tier policing and told you that the reason for it is because they think the moms with the pushchairs are far right nazis who should all be shot and the thugs in the masks throwing missiles at the kids in the pushchairs are middle class do-gooders who need transportation to and from train stations to facilitate their rioting? That’s interesting. I don’t suppose you were able to record any of those conversations? So you’ve not seen the videos of antifa throwing missiles at police? Not exactly a “white collar” crime? You’ve not seen the videos of antifa assulting police with weapons? Not exactly “white collar” crime. The police are usually very hard on groups of people who attack them and their colleagues. As you say, far right riots in the past have been come down on very hard. All riots should be come down on very hard. So the fact that left wing rioters are free to attack the police with seemingly zero consequences is very interesting. But it does explain why the numbers of police attending left wing counter protests has increased massively over the past couple of weeks. Feel free to bury your head in the sand and ignore the evidence. You’d make a great high court judge…… “I don’t think we need to hear from the defence, all they will do is try to convince me they are innocent. My mate has already told me what happened, any other version of events must be lies” Stick to reading the guardian and watching left wing media and think you’re getting the full picture. I can’t make my mind up if you’re just naive, brainwashed, or if you genuinely believe that the only people who have an issue with the immigration situation are far right Nazi’s. You’re answer to foreign nationals committing sexual offences against 12yo girls and younger is “white British folks do it too”. We know, but you can’t deport British people. Why would we want to send such people to another country? They are our problem, lock them up and throw away the key. But we can deport foreign nationals who commit these offences and thereby reduce the total number of kiddy fiddlers we have in this country. But you don’t want that. You seem want to keep them here. Why do you want to increase the number of child sex offenders in the uk? You won’t answer any of my points of course, you’ll just brand me a far right racist.

"This is bullsh1t ok. It is a direct threat to freedom of speech simple. If I do not like what you say because I am complicit in what you say, well you have given me power to do what I like, which is making your power a terrorist and mine a Leagle democracy even though the Leagle democracy is killing on mass. go fu0k off you silly people. This is bullshit, the whole thing is some bollocks from Facebook. That people get their news like this is basically the end of any hope for society. Twonotes my man, sorry I do not use Facebook, I have no idea if those who support suffering give their views to their friends on Facebook, but I somehow doubt it. If I supported mass killing I think I would be cancelled on social media and loose friends thus losing popularity which is what social media is all about. These guys are losers simply because they cannot be honest in their real life, thank god we can because we support life and conversation rather than killing because we can. Sorry the OP was from Facebook. Meaning what? Is your opinion that it can’t be real? It’s a video. It’s not AI. Yeah the camera person is voicing their opinion but even if they were silent, the video is still transparent. The video has no context and shows a snapshot, clearly not the full picture. Police ordering no masks at protests. That video is online as well by the way. Yet police walking next to the far left activists wearing masks. You considering non-racists as "far left" shows an extreme bias, a video labelled "2 tier policing again" is aimed at people who have already made up their mind. Police order no protests to block the public highway and this lot hog the public highway in full view of the police Both the racists and non-racists are protesting on the street. Not evidence of two tier policing I don’t think you and PenineTop understand what 2 tier policing is. Perhaps Google could be your friend? I do understand. It's a concept used to wind up people who are sympathetic to the protesting racists. This video is an excellent example. Someone could make the exact opposite and claim two tier policing the other way around. You calling mothers protecting their children from sex offenders “racist” shows your bias. But any bias I may or may not have is irrelevant because it’s not my video. Are all asylum seekers sex offenders, or do you know there were sex offenders in the premises ? How do you know the video wasn't orchestrated ? Were you there ?" Are all the residents of our big cities Israeli soldiers guilty of genocide? None of them are as far as I’m aware. So why are there constant protests against Isreal in our big cities? If you think it’s only reasonable to protest outside the home of an actual sex offender, I assume you’re in favour of those names and locations being broadcast on national television every hour? So you’re saying the anti migrant demonstrators got the police to oppress their human rights (right to protest and right to expression) and at the same time protect the far left activists from prosecution from breaking police directives regarding protests at this particular location? And you think that’s more likely than a senior police officer being biased in his political views? I assume you’ve got an email trail between the protestors and the police showing these arrangements? Or a recoding of phone conversations? Were you there? So what you’re advocating is video evidence of let’s say a burglary shouldn’t be allowed in court, because there’s no way of knowing if the occupants just set it all up and paid the burglar to burgle their home just so they could video it? On that basis, one can assume all the video footage of any “far right” law breaking is also just set up by the police?

So you’ve had a conversation with chief constables who have admitted there is two tier policing and told you that the reason for it is because they think the moms with the pushchairs are far right nazis who should all be shot and the thugs in the masks throwing missiles at the kids in the pushchairs are middle class do-gooders who need transportation to and from train stations to facilitate their rioting? I don't know why you think the things you think, but since you've already decided what my opinion is on that before I've had a chance to form it, I think we'd both be better off if you just sat in a corner on your own and congratulated yourself on being correct.

And in other news 500 arrests for asking for peace in Palestine. " That's totally disingenuous. It's fine for people to protest in support of peace in Palestine. The 500 arrest are mainly support a proscribed organisation or being violent and disorderly..

"I'm not sure the police stand a chance against sensationalist headlines and this diatribe of two tier policing. What I do find amusing is that when things go wrong for the people who complain about the police, who do they call? " It's just such a ludicrous idea to begin with. Do people really think all these dibbles are getting orders handed down to treat the gammon one way and the hippies another? How soon would it be before any such commands would get leaked to a right-wing press that would feel like all its Christmases had come at once? Or the alternative would be that these cops are spontaneously, en-masse, deciding to play bodyguards for the crusty dreadlocked ones. Is that what these people think is happening? It's the usual thing of conspiracy theories that would require a totally unprecedented and frankly unrealistic level of interdepartmental co-operation and secrecy to be carried out in the way they're described.

So how do you explain what’s happening on the streets? The alternatives I can think of are… 1. Government orders 2. Chief constable orders 3. Officer in charge in the field orders 4. Constables doing whatever they want 5. Police assisted in creating a staged video that makes them look bad 6. Videos showing what’s happening are fake and created by AI. The last one is close to impossible as there’s more than one video of the same protests. Burying your head in the sand and saying “it didn’t happen” is the only other thing I can think of but that doesn’t change the facts, just your opinion of them. And the age old “all these people who complain about the police, who do they call when they are getting r @ p e d or murdered?”. So are you advocating that someone being murdered has no right to call the police if they had their rights abused by a police officer at some point in their life and complained about it? Or are you advocating that the police are above the law and can do whatever they want and we just have to accept it like they do in North Korea? May as well get rid of the police complaints procedure eh? Interestingly enough the process is actually getting improved under a bill that’s going through parliament at the moment because of failings in the current system.

"A Councillor has been found not guilty for posting on social media that all right wingers should have their throats cut, what do islamist and the left have in common they have a thing for slashing throats." So, he made the comments in person at a protest, not on social media, and he made them about certain members of the far right, in his words "nazi fascists", not "all right wingers". Not defending the call for violence, more just illustrating your shaky relationship with the truth.

"The thing to remember is that many right-wingers are fragile souls with very delicate sensitivies. They feel hurt by concepts like wokeness (or political correctness previously) as they want to say whatever they like with nobody talking back. The idea that they might actually face physical counter-protests when they turn up outside a hotel is a step too far. It shouldn't be allowed. " Physical? So like throwing bottles at women with small children in pushchairs? You don’t think that’s a step too far? Interesting view of women you have their.

As has already been explained to you. Which you chose to ignore because it suits you better to get your "news" from people who also sell dodgy gym supplements.

"So from reading a few posts here we can establish the following…. If a video doesn’t fit your narrative it just doesn’t exist, even if you’ve watched it? If it does exist, it’s a set up to distort the facts? Have you any evidence of the police helping people to make these videos? How can you even hire a couple of thousand cops? Or are you saying they are not real police? In which case why are they not being arrested for impersonating a police constable? That very fact means they are police. There’s zero evidence to suggest that the videos or fake. If they were fake it would be on BBC news constantly. The fact that it’s not proves they are genuine recordings of actual events. Whilst there may be bias on the part of the people doing the recording, I’ve not spoken to them personally but I’d agree there probably is some, that doesn’t change the content. If all you watch is BBC and all you read is the guardian, you’re no different to the people who only watch GB news and read the daily Mail. The BBC not reporting something doesn’t mean it didn’t happen. There’s atrocities happening in Gaza that are not being covered live by the BBC, does that mean they don’t happen either? " Not sure if you're taking the piss or serious. But there are definitely people out there who watch a snippet of video from social media posted with a bias title and they think it's giving an accurate picture and full story of events.

In what way does the BBC not airing a video prove it's real? I mean really, educate me here, I don't watch the BBC so maybe there's some new paradigm of them airing fake stuff that I don't know about. While you're at it, I'm still waiting to hear how the police are operationally co-ordinating this two-tier thing.

I think the media has done such a good job of discrediting the police from every angle, and people are falling for it. The there are the 'auditors' who create a situation in order to film police, tying them up in unnecessary drivel, instead of allowing them to deal with what they should be doing.

Go on, what do you do for a living.

"A Councillor has been found not guilty for posting on social media that all right wingers should have their throats cut, what do islamist and the left have in common they have a thing for slashing throats. So, he made the comments in person at a protest, not on social media, and he made them about certain members of the far right, in his words "nazi fascists", not "all right wingers". Not defending the call for violence, more just illustrating your shaky relationship with the truth. So he said a group of people should have their throats cut and has got away with it because he’s a labour councillor and that’s not two tier justice. Perhaps he should replace Starmer as the next PM and he can get that made legal? I guess you'd have to prove he got away with it "because he's a Labour councillor". So, go ahead. I'll wait. But yeah, he said nazi fascists should have their throats cut. I wonder why you rephrased that bit to "a group of people". Do you not find that the "nazi fascists" bit is an important distinction?" A lot of people would of taken his choice of words "Nazi fascists" as being all those people who don't agree with you and have a different opinion, He should of been treated like all the people that have been sent to prison for doing similar things, Being a elected councillor just makes it worse in my opinion.

"Your words…. “ The idea that they might actually face physical counter-protests when they turn up outside a hotel is a step too far.” So therefore you think physical counter protest is acceptable. Physical. Your word not mine. Not verbal. Physical. So you think one group being “physical” with another group is perfectly acceptable? The example I gave was “physical”. I don’t think people being “physical” with others against their will is something anyone should have to put up with. But clearly you and I have a different idea of what basic human rights are." The word physical doesn't mean violent or criminal. In the context of my post it means a physical presence as opposed to a virtual presence. There is a big difference between exchanging words or holding a banner in person and exchanging words or presenting images over the internet. That you once again leap to the most extreme possible interpretation indicates how out of touch you are with reality.

Most of these ideas are only established in your mind. I watched the video twice, pausing and rewinding now and then. I described earlier what I saw. I watched it so carefully that I even spotted Konstantin Kisin hovering about, not that that has any bearing on events, but I want you to know I did look carefully at your "evidence". You seem to think this is some big deal and that the police behaved in a terrible fashion. I'm not sure why you think that way as it just looks like the police doing their job to me. If other people were arrested for wearing similar masks then let's look at that evidence but the video you are talking about doesn't seem particularly controversial.

Just curious here and genuinely not being argumentative, but how would anyone know if the group of people he was referring to were actually Nazi fascists? We all poke at each other a little in here and say leftie this and far right that. Well many, not all, but all joking aside, in all seriousness, if a person genuinely thinks that everyone who has an issue with uncontrolled mass migration and how it’s currently being handled is a Nazi fascist, then they have either been brainwashed or they are totally delusional. I challenge anyone here to openly declare that that’s what they genuinely think.

" And the age old “all these people who complain about the police, who do they call when they are getting r @ p e d or murdered?” I was thinking more of when they get offended by something posted on Facebook or other social media and want the Police to sort out the mess of their own making. But again, people want to over-dramatise and take something to the nth degree. " The type of people who highlight police corruption don’t cry over fb posts and tweets. The way anyone would know that is by doing a little looking into the incident, for example the Independent and Sun articles about it, rather than just assuming the guy is some crazy militant lefty who wants to murder anyone right of centre. Nobody's brainwashed or delusional. Any serious person accepts that totally uncontrolled immigration would be problematic. But that's not the issue we're talking about.

"Woman with St George’s flag arrested for not walking fast enough. Search YouTube for “ Pink Lady Protester Disgustingly Arrested Britannia Hotel - Police Abusing Powers” 5 cops, three of them big burly blokes, but they had to handcuff her behind her back for their safety. Not quite what police guidelines say but who cares about guidelines when you’re presented to opportunities to assault a woman and rough her up a bit? She had a St George’s flag, must be a far right, racist, Nazi, right? I’ve searched for laws governing walking speed but couldn’t find any. Could someone copy and paste the minimum walking speed from an act of parliament or in common law please. " I'm not convinced the whole story story is known here. I took a look at the video and it starts from a position of the police with the lady at some distance from the person filming. The back story of not walking fast enough is surely hearsay as the moment had already passed or wasn't seen in the video. The walking fast enough comment seemed to came from part of a discussion point and agreement during the live stream the camera person was conducting as far as I could workout.
