Yeah, it's a very bad move by Trump.

The BLS doesn't just publish official data on employment they also publish the official inflation statistics (the Consumer Price index and the Producer Price Index) used in all kinds of decision making mechanisms.

They also publish the US Import and Export Price Indexes!

If Trump thinks he can just appoint someone who will come up with the "right numbers" then it really is shocking.

Starmer sacked Sue Grey not so long ago. Not the head of a civil service dept I know, they were higher that.
