London police defy ban on badges linked to far right and white supremacy

“Metropolitan police officers are openly defying orders not to wear badges appropriated by the far right and linked to white supremacy.

In July, the force’s chief, Mark Rowley, banned officers from wearing the “thin blue line” badge saying that in the US an equivalent symbol had been used by “hard-right groups”.”

West Wales

& in the UK which is where we live the thin blue line is a common nomenclature of the police force.

They are “The thin blue line” & have been known by this name for decades.

Fuck Mark Rowley.

That badge is more relevant to police than others they are allowed to wear.

Of all the problems that the Met is been facing, Mr.Mark Rowley chose this hill to die on? A leader must know the pulse of people under him. The moment he sets a rule and people don't follow, he has become a joke already.

Not to mention, the whole idea is rather stupid. If I want to get a symbol banned, all I have to do is to start an online trend associating the symbol with far right groups? It's a slippery slope.

Didn’t see many badges at the March for Palestinians yesterday.

Which incidentally was policed very well in the face of some pretty nasty provocation.

Badges?

I would like them to defy orders and start arresting pro Palestine protestors that are attacking the police, people, lighting fires, setting off flares, vandalism and especially those who are openly supporting Hamas a terrorist organisation.

As other shave said, fuck Mark Rowley and any other establishment stooge that feels threatened by any movement that may challenge their own authority.
