Who remembers the TV series Dick Turpin?

I'm just catching up with this classic from my childhood. This was one of the best historical dramas of the era.

Both this and Robin of Sherwood were one of those rare tv gems created by Richard Carpenter; a period drama that was aimed as an acton series (think of the A-Team) and not another bland bodice-ripper that the Beeb churns out or an advert for a certain stately home.

Richard Carpenter plays this role brilliantly, showing some sword skills and comedy timing.

We need more telly like this.

Am I having a senior moment or am I right in remembering Richard O'Sullivan playing Dick Turpin on television briefly?

"Ugh!! I used to bloody love Dick Turpin!! "

I'm on episode 4 already,

You'll be surprised where some of the cast ended up: Emmerdale, Boon, Monarch of the Glen and The Grimleys.

Maybe on Netflix or Amazon prime or even Britbox, but not Freeview.

Yeah! Man About The House spawned Robins's Nest and a certain George & Mildred.

IMDB is your friend when it comes to remembering telly and film stuff like this.

My ex had this crazy notion, that Richard O'Sullivan is the secret father of Professor Brian Cox: must be those cheek bones I reckon: From taking pickings on the highway to taking pictures of the Milky Way

No I recall it too - such a shame about him too, had a stroke in 2003 that has left him living in a home for retired entertainers

When I started reading OPs post my first thought was Richard O’Sullivan. Robin of Sherwood was that Sean Connery’s son or am I being thick. I haven’t checked IMBD so it’s all in the head.

Robins Nest with the one handed dish washer and wine bottle candle holders.

RoS was Michael Praed first, then Jason Connery
