Do you consider yourself a vinyl collector or vinyl listener

I have an impressive collection that's all there to be listened to, none of it is just for show so consider myself a little of both but more of a listener

How about you?

I've got quite a big vinyl collection. They've all only been played once by me, to transfer them to digital format to listen to. They're stored in protective plastic cases with the record outside of the sleeve to avoid ringwear

I like vinyl, but it takes up too much room. I rarely listen to it, now you can get 24-bit downloads.

I’ve got loads of records from my time as a bit of a bedroom DJ. I dust them off every now and again still

Avoiding ringwear is something I’m sure we all strive for. Ooo errr missis.

I used to collect but haven't owned a record player for years. What I do have is now kept at my mums, a lot of old school Metal. She keeps 'topping' it up with Iron Maiden records. If I did have a player and space for records I'd definitely have an awesome collection. There's record shop down the road I go to for a bit of inspiration. Have had my eye on a few by David Bowie, Deep Purple, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Kate Bush to name a few.

I listen to vinyl nearly every day and always visit good record shops when I'm nearby. I've got hundreds of CDs and tapes as well but don't play them anymore, I love the ritual of vinyl.

I've got vinyl envy

I must have approaching a thousand, I keep about 600 of my fav ones on shelves downstairs, mostly 60s Jazz, funk and Soul, with a bit of Ska as well. Most of my records from my youth are in boxes upstairs, lots of Rockabilly and 50s R&B. I sold quite a bit about 20 years ago and still kick myself for doing so.

B used to DJ back in the day and our spare room is just wall to wall vinyl.

It had to stay in the garage at our old house as the floor wouldn't take the weight.

He has had a few offers to part with some of it but won't.

I collect what I like and listen regularly to my vinyl.

I got a player 2-3 yrs ago and been picking up bits I love on vinyl.

Mostly stereophonics, Radiohead, u2, smashing pumpkins

I love the search and then the ritual of putting on the record joy although when skips I scream out and thing free why I bother lol

Have a friend in USA who is crazy collector his library is huge and constantly buys more

Love vinyl, always have, I invested in a good deck just about the time CDs were released so I refused to make the switch. It was only about 5 years ago I actually bought a CD player. Definitely not a collector of records, I have about 1000 but they are for listening to. They are looked after, cleaned on a proper machine and they still sound brilliant, way better than CD

That sounds like a great collection. I unfortunately sold my vinyl years ago when storage was an issue... keep thinking about starting up a collection but can be quite addictive.

Aberdeen, westhill

Still got loads of records from my youth into the 90s early 2000s. Still have my set of decks too.. Tho everything is in storage at the moment. Something very satisfying about putting a record on the turntable

We went away to a log cabin recently and took hubbies 45 collection from the 80’s along with a small record player, took turns in pulling random records out and had great fun listening to those great classics.

Got my first 45 as a child as a present, and been collecting ever since. Have several thousand, ranging from LP’s to 12” and 45’s.... have a ‘music’ room to store them, along with hundreds of CD’s. Ye can never have enough....
