I get the idea of parting all contact from people who I fall-out with, but with whom I share no mutual bond

i fell out with my mum and dad 16yrs ago and my brother 3yrs ago , and it has,nt botherd me one bit and ill never make the first move to talk to them , i drive past my mums house at least 10 time a day ,also my boy is 14 this yr and they have never met him

me and my brother fell out with my sister, we dont see her anymore, she lives 100 miles away, we just send birthday and christmas cards. we havnt seen her for years, am glad i dont have too.

Too right about not being able to choose my own family.

Just because I share the same DNAs and blood ties with my sister, it does not mean I have to be her friend.

We fell out in 2002 and have not spoken to each other since.

I seriously hope my ex is rotting in hell which is where I am sure she went after I killed her ...

But I digress. If its a matter of principle I won't budge and hell (and the ex) can freeze over first. But if its a misunderstanding I will do all I can to resolve it even if I have to eat humble pie.

I am slow to make friends but will do all I can to keep them. Family ....can I get back to you on that?

I've not had any major fall outs, been very let down by friends and decided to move on from them.

I've recently lost touch with a friend due to a misunderstanding and that quite hurts but I don't really have the balls to get back in touch I know she's well so that's the main thing.

If I snap at someone through impatience or that sort of thing, of course I apologize.

I fell out with my Dad many years ago over his wife's family and we didn't speak for 6 months. My Mum eventually said that if anything happened to him, he had heart probs, I would never forgive my self.

Dad and I were so much alike, stubborn. But all my life with him if we fell out it was always me that had to say sorry. I did it to keep the peace.

good for you, your mum was right really. my dad used to say some spiteful things to me, i felt like not bothering with him anymore, but he could be nice too, i couldnt believe it when he died, he left me quite a lot of money, but he wouldnt of liked it if he knew what i spent it on.
