Where would you emigrate to?

Jump to newest

By (user no longer on site) OP

I’m trying to decide if I should move to Aus.

Tell me - where would you emigrate to? Have you emigrated? Did you ever think about it? If not, why not? Dream destination?

I personally think I might be too much of a homebody to make the move. But I’ve lived in Newcastle over ten years now and part of me wants adventure....

I could very easily see myself living in Spain.

It's something we talk about but have no actual plans at the moment.

Spent half my life abroad. I'm only here because my sons are, I'd quite happily emigrate again. Little Britain, for all its popular culture and centuries of history.. isn't filled with the warmest or most welcoming inhabitants if I'm brutally honest.

I love to travel and visit different countries, but not sure that I would want to emigrate.

I like the UK and find most people in most countries are generally nice and friendly...including the UK.

In fact, I rather like the idea of retiring to the NE coast, Durham or Northumberland.

Then I intend to do trips to France buying antique furniture to bring back to the U.K. to sell

All over the place! Northwesr, , Southwest

Were it not for the awful wages and lack of professional autonomy, i'd still be living in Portugal and specifically the Algarve. The weather is brilliant, beaches are lovely, food (especially seafood) and wine are magnificent. The country is safe and has low levels of crime. Most everyone is very hospitable and most of the younger people speak some english. Cost of living is low compared to UK standards and average purchasing power.

its realy hard to get a start out there. The younger you are the better chance you have of making a life for yourself out there. But is a beautiful country but couldn't get a break because of my age.

I've travelled extensively over the years and the North east is home, great to get back but it's lovely to travel especially for a few weeks! Live it as opposed to just being a tourist, if you know what I mean - better to stay with family or friends and experience the real culture!

YOLO - get out there and do it!

Berlin, or at least close by. Big fan of post-modernist architecture. Also like the Bauhaus movement and style. (And the band, funnily enough). Too many clubs to frequent, and a massive alternative music-scene.

On the flipside, New Zealand. If things had panned out, should have been living there by now, specifically Christchurch. But plans all fell through. On a positive note, we dodged a major and terrible earthquake in the area some years later where we were looking to settle. Funny thing is fate
