Is anybody a electrician. Question is i have put lights in kitchen (not on roof). I used the cable from lightswitch. I get power down to wee transformer for LED kickerboard lights. It wont flow i need a neutral. Can i take a insualted 1mm cable from plug that fridge freezer into to use for my neutral or is this dangerous?

You are kidding aren't you?

The fridge uses a 13 amp circuit ... lighting should be on a 5 anno circuit ... mix the 2 ... keep a fire extinguisher handy

Light switch or plug socket

Best thing, get someone who knows what they're doing in!!

It's dangerous ... to answer the question you asked

The live, neutral and earth should be drawn from the same circuit. Not split between 2 as you're effectively bypassing the effectivity of the fuse or RCD

Please dont do it as you suggest, you may create problems you didnt have before.

A fused spur at 3A from a socket and wired from that would probably be the best way..

You do know that mains electricity is AC and not DC don't you?

The neutral is not at 0V

I really would urge you to hire an electrictian before you electrocute yourself or start a fire.

Intersting that only a few days ago, someone was bemoaning the Part P regulations and claiming interference of the nanny state and yet here is another perfect example of why these regulations were brought in in the first place.

Its AC not dc the current goes bqck and forth from neutral to live. They are both live relative to ground (ie you)

You should really check what the regulations say about what you're trying to do.

There are laws concerning what work you can do in your home and in particular in rooms where water is present (kitchen and bathrooms) and certain works must be certified.

You could find that what you're attempting maybend up invalidating your home insurance.

Iirc fixed lighting should be directly wired in not plugged in.

If the fridge socket is accessible and in the right place though id be tempted to plug the leds into that

Il be having a electrician in this week to do a extractor fan for shower. Ofcourse im still alive i actually didnt wire it somebody else was and this is the way they wanted to do it. He is a engineer but i wanted to get opinion of electricans.

I wire quite a lot of minor stuff but never would attempt something like that myself lol
