"I can't remember the name of the programmes but there was a very weird dubbed German kids drama on the BBC in the 80's. The storyline seemed to revolve around some miserable German gangster or businessman who tried to buy some kids smile off him. Anyone else remember it? The adventures of Tim Tyler The BBC bought a shit load of crappy foreign kids tv shows back then." Sorry it was The Legend of Tim Tyler. It had the wrost ending if you can remember it.

Just yesterday I made my youngest puff up his cheeks and pull out his ears so that he looked like Pob. He didn't know what I was on about. I'm easily amused.....

"While Rentaghost did make me laugh as a kid, I would have to say it would definitely have to be put in the weird kids tv programme category. Any kids tv programmes you would put in the weird category? " Rentaghost was great back in them days , I even watched it when on uk gold a few years ago , But modern days notation are a bit wierd , Probably Dora the explorer would be the one , Dora always seen a strange with her big eyes looking at you all the time ?

"Not sure if it’s weird, but it was definitely terrifying. “Are You Afraid Of The Dark?” Especially the episode where a girl keeps hearing a little bit saying “I’m cold” at night, before discovering a dead body in a tree outside the house. I couldn’t sleep for weeks." *little boy (not bit)

"Thomas the Tank Engine still unnerves me a bit. I could never figure out if it was a real face of flesh and bone or something traped in the engine. There was an episode where one of the trains refuses to work so the fat controller has it bricked up alive behind a wall." Henry the green engine

"Does anyone remember Knightmare in early 90s/late 80s? Some kids would stick VR headsets on or something and play through medieval scenes trying to solve puzzles and moving onto scenes and hopefully making it to the end after weeks. It was frightening as a kid. The scenes usually had time being of the essence and one time when time was running out a huge flying skull appeared on the screen flying all over the place going to get them unless they finish the puzzle QUICK to unlock the way out and get out of there. Another time, a kid was crossing tricky stone platforms above a black abyss deep in a castle and had to solve a puzzle to cross to the next one with time running out before each platform disappeared. The sense of panic and urgency was horrible - they couldn't solve the last one in time and the platform abruptly disappeared and the kid dropped down into the black void. It was (K)nightmarish " Knightmare was awesome and cutting edge at the time. Wasn't VR though. The kid with helmet couldn't see anything as they used bluescreen tech to impose the dungeon graphics, but if he looked down he'd just see a blue floor. Essentially he's just walking through the same series of rooms but looks good on TV. Yeah some of it was a bit out there.

"At the time I didn’t think that the programs were weird but it seems to me that in some kids programs most of the content went over my head. For example, Magic Roundabout was probably written by some aging hippy who was off his face on hallucinagens, what else explains Dylan the hippy rabbit? Another odd one was Willo The Wisp, the cartoon with a speaking TV, narrated by Kenneth Williams. It was surreal!" Jasper Carrot made a brilliant record about the magic roundabout!
