"Has to be the Beatles. I was never sure about the Stones as, to me, they'd fewer hits that I could recall."

OUTPUT

The Beatles

12 studio albums,

13 EPs,

22 singles.

The Stones

29 studio albums,

18 live albums,

3 EPs,

107 singles.

Although it's Fab and I guess we have to say quality doesn't equal quality.

Still The Stones for me though.

Ok, you have the facts but it comes down to the quality of the music, which for anyone, is subjective.

I preferred The Beatles style over a lot of others; that doesn't mean The Stones weren't any good, but for me, there were only bits of their repertoire I liked.

Yes, you're completely correct, it's subjective. For me, the Stones had a better idea of the roots of American blues and, therefore, rock. Perhaps I should say Rhythm n Blues as that's probably a better description of their music.

I always felt the Beatles were a touch more Pop, though they did vary their music through their different cultural experiences, India being the most obvious.

Still, I think Oasis did it better, taking what the Beatles did, updating it and giving it a harder edge.

Regardless, as you say, it's subjective and we can't help liking what we like.

The important thing is that we can all find stuff we like and for that, I thank all musicians, especially AC/DC, Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Kyuss, Rival Sons, The Black Crowes, Mick Flannery, The Frames, Motorhead, Pearl Jam, Accept, Tesla, Rudimental, Faithless, Moby, Stereophonics, Metallica, along with many others

Your using the fact Stones produced more remember the Beatles were not together any where near as long as the Stones and we will never know how the Beatles music would of developed if they had same run as the Stones. As I said in my post think both bands are excellent but you made me choose one so still say the Beatles

Both. For different reasons. The Beatles were the lads from the back streets that were real movers and shakers in moving music forwards and innovating. The Stones made blues and r&b with a bit of dirty rock thrown in for good measure popular.

LOL seriously? Freddy Mercury was an amazing talent for sure, and elvis, also a legend but they have no touch on the stones for the number of gigs played, musical talent and number of records made. It's just factual that the stones are rock stars, and they are all still going strong! Pure rock and roll, oh and elvis ripped off other musicians and took credit for it.

Overrated show pony!

Now if you'd said Michael Hutchence, when he wasn't being pretty fucking awesome on stage (and out of the 1000+ gigs i've seen, he's easily the best frontman/woman) he was either drinking, smoking or balls deep in a supemodel or two... or Kylie!

Now thats my definition of a rock star (although Keith Moon probably did all that before breakfast)
