"A Canadian transgender father left behind a wife and seven children to begin a new life as a six-year-old girl.

Stefonknee (pronounced ‘Stephanie’) Wolschtt, 46, had been married for 23 years when she realised she was transgender.

She's now living with an adoptive family, and says she does not “want to be an adult right now”. "

Heart warming.

A complicated tale to be sure. I wonder why she was in prison, I wonder why she feels she needs to be 6 again, I wonder how her children feel. So many unanswered questions.

But Stefonkee seems to be choosing which responsibilities she's shedding. She still drives her car and I think she still goes to work it wasn't clear.

I can see how a trans person could be helped by having a period of being the child they felt they should have been though.

An intriguing thread OP. Not just the topic but the responses from those who identify as males and females. In particular, how blinkered the male responses are and how much more empathetic the female responses are. Just an observation but, my gosh, who would want to live their life wearing blinkers.

BLINKERED?!

Clearly you haven't been on the receiving end of infidelity from an ex partner who then conveniently jumped on the T in the LGBT wagon to try and excuse all the stuff she's done.

Like being trans is something you just wake up one day and decide to try it on for size and see if it fits, regardless of what consequences and present commitments/attachments/ties one already has would be affected!

Blinkered. FUCK. I'm bi. And take my word for it, with eejits like the "man" in the news article, one doesn't even need homophobic or transphobic people in the world anymore when people like that are allowed to discredit the entire community.

I mean the guy who thinks it’s ok to desert his family to ‘become a child’ again!

There are many times when being a grown up is shit - when we’d all love to run away and hide - especially at this time of year when many parents are wondering how the fuck they’re going to pay expensive winter heating bills, put a Christmas spread on the table and buy presents from ‘Santa!’

We stay where we are because we love our kids and we know they need us more than anybody in the world!

When we’ve given the best start in life we can - and they’ve grown up and left home - that’s when we can begin to relax and think about ourselves a little again!

Looks like she is picking and choosing the bits of being a 6 year old that appeal- she's still driving a car around!?

I'm confused about the so called 'adoptive parents'- they seem perfectly fine with their grandchildren being around someone who ditched their own children to live this life they want. I mean, can they ever be left alone? It's not like Stefoknee (or whatever ridiculous way she spells it) can babysit the granchildren? I just don't get it, sorry.

Yeah I sympathise with the family, very selfish thing to do. Setting a precedent for this kind of thing doesn't help there needs to be boundaries.

Thing is - if this chap had decided he identified as a woman and wanted to live accordingly - plenty of people would have sympathy for the new ‘her’ - myself included! It must be traumatic to genuinely feel that you’re trapped in the wrong gender/body!

Although it must be an emotional rollercoaster for all concerned at first - as long as children have loving, caring parents then they’d grow up fine!

Our lovely Rachel is a prime example of that!

Deciding to become a different gender doesn’t mean you have to desert your family or shirk your responsibilities.

Fairly recently I had an interview with one of the UKs top Gender pyshchologists, they said to me that they had to refuse many Trans gender certs, etc, letters recommending them for feminising surgery, etc, as they had mental health issues or other deep rooted problems that needed to be dealt with before they could proceed on their journey and meet the criteria needed for them to become what they claimed they wanted to be...

Pity this entity mentioned in this thread had not been assessed by them...

And to think there are some in the UK who want to loosen the Gender Recognition Act to make even such assessments entirely redundant. That's the slippery slope society is going down on.

I'm giving serious consideration to redeclaring my age and having the childhood I wanted.

My parents were far too strict about catapults, used iodine on grazed knees, smacked me for chasing the little girl across the road to pull her pigtails, wouldn't let me smoke at 10, made me go to school, and crime of crimes made me wash and get baths and eat greens!

From here on in anyone comes near our house I'll done my Dennis the Menace shirt and let them have it with the old catapult, ladies are going to get chased so I can grab their hair, I'm going to stop washing and start drinking and I'll also tell the council they can whistle for their council tax as I'm too young to pay it. As for eating greens I'm going to eat as much chocolate as I want until I'm sick. So there!

Damn, I just thought of a snag! I'd have to give up my bus pass!

she might not be allowed to but she does. Stefonkee is either on a massive wind up to gain notoriety or she is hugely taking the mickey out of many people.

I would say sorry, you want to be 6 take that make up off, hand over your car keys, you're not allowed alcohol and your bedtime is 7pm.

as I said up thread she's choosing which responsibilities she sheds. The thing is people are letting her."

"A complicated tale to be sure. I wonder why she was in prison, I wonder why she feels she needs to be 6 again, I wonder how her children feel. So many unanswered questions.

6 year olds don't have any responsibilities.

But Stefonkee seems to be choosing which responsibilities she's shedding. She still drives her car and I think she still goes to work it wasn't clear.

I can see how a trans person could be helped by having a period of being the child they felt they should have been though.

She's 6, she's not allowed to drive a car. If she wants to role play that's a different kettle of fish.

I suspect we haven't heard the entire story
