Are you chinese or Indian or something else?

I usually spoil myself on a Friday night making myself either a Chinese meal or an Indian meal. This Friday I’m thinking of making a Lamb Dhansak with pillau rice.

It got me thinking what ‘treat’ meals people like to cook (doesn’t have to be Chinese or Indian) and if anyone would like to share the recipe?

I’ll start with what I did myself last Friday:

Sweet & Sour Duck

1. Preheat the oven to 200°C (180°C fan oven), gas 6 and place a casserole dish in to warm.

2. Cook the egg noodles in boiling water for 3-4 mins, remove, drain and set aside.

3. Score a criss-cross pattern all over the duck skin and through the fat, without cutting into the meat. Heat a heavy-based frying pan over a medium heat and add the duck breasts skin side down.

4. Blend the soy sauce, honey and lime juice together, then brush a little over the meaty side of the duck whilst in the pan. Fry for 4-5 minutes or until the skin is well browned, then turn over and cook for a further 2 minutes. Remove the duck to the hot casserole dish skin side up.

5. Stir 2 tbsp cold water into the remaining soy sauce mixture and add to the casserole drizzling over the duck. Transfer the casserole back to the oven and roast for 8-10 minutes or until the duck is cooked through and the sauce is thickened and reduced.

6. While the duck is roasting, heat a wok or large frying pan with the oil over a medium-high heat and stir-fry the veg for 3-4 minutes or until almost tender.

7. Pour the sauce from the duck into the pan with the veg, add the noodles and stir-fry for 5 minutes. Carve the duck into thin slices, then add to the noodles and toss over a high heat for a final few seconds. Serve at once, with the sweet chilli sauce separately.

Sometimes when I look in the mirror I say “you are something else”!

Sorry OP but couldn’t resist.
