Christmas homemade pickled onions. There not officially ready until next week but ive just eaten half the first jar lol

do you brine first?? cos i used a different recipe first and am not sure about the outcome but i'm not a fan of them so trying them won't help!

I didnt make them so i dont know, my dad does lots each year and pickled red cabbage but thats not ready yet. I will ask him though

adults are all getting homemade form me this year so i've got pickled onions, beetroot, chutnies, jams, syrups,relishes and jellies. just got a jar of pickled eggs to make (boak) by special request.

lovely, when my grandma died, noone could find her recipe book and it was full of everything that you said. Im not good at doing it myself but might give onions a go next year.

As for pickled eggs yuckity yuck

same here,for the kids' teachers pressies plus close friends I am making a basket of homemade loaves,cakes and biscuits with a mini fruitcake in the middle

haven't brined them in the past and they are crunchier that way. but i did brine them this year and they seem slightly squidgy...

and since i don't like the things i can't really test them... damn. if you live closer i could try them out on you! trad or with chilli??

might have a spare jar left over... the beetroot with chilli is very popular (you wouldn't believe the amount of beetroot my family can consume!) so i did some onions with it too.

That can be one of my new hobbies for next year having a go at making chutneys and pickles. Everyone loves recieving that kind of stuff
