I appreciate why some people are vegetarians but I could not go veggie myself.

I just don’t get the whole vegan thing. I can’t have honey on my porridge because the bee didn’t give me permission? Do fuck off.

There is a stereotypical view that vegans are all very vocal about their choice to abstain from using animals to provide any food or clothing etc.....

To them it’s a lifestyle choice , and it’s an extremely sustainable way to live .

Not all vegans are so vocal , some just get on with it . I certainly can’t see why they should be slagged off by those who choose to revel in the fact that they do eat meat .

Can vegans live in houses built with bricks and mortar?

You know...bricks and mortar are made with various amounts of sand: sand is made from various minerals both soluble and non soluble and some organic matter like calcium from seashells. Which in turn comes from animals, dead animals like shellfish. Being dead for millions of years doesn't seem to be a problem for them vegans, does it?

Not only farm animals, huge numbers of insects rely on animals and without them they would die out as would all the creatures further up the food chain that consume them, then there would be no fertility to grow the crops and the huge amount of land that cant be cropped for various reasons. I have no problem with vegans until they spout the lie that its more sustainable

Grain farms were around many centuries before livestock farms.

Many animals have gone extinct due to hunters killing for meat.

Just because you don’t understand a persons dietary habits, does not mean you should create lies in order to justify your own.

If as you say they just get on with it then they aren't likely to be slagged off.

However the militant veggie wing (gives a whole new meaning to wild carrots) put their mouthings up as a target so deserve to take the hit.

Vegans are no different than other people, however they can be outspoken and misunderstood.

If you don't eat, wear animal products it your choice.

Its also my choice to eat what I want.

If you don't eat things without its consent where does the little swimmers come in to play? The giver has given consent I'm guessing!

Hunting was a rich mans sport, most peasants worked too much for too little and it was a luxury to have anything other than what they made with grain.

We are one of the species on this planet that can survive without eating meat and yet so many people are adamant that it is the right of humans to cage, torture and then consume animals. Not even predators treat their prey so disgustingly

The obsessive quest to achieve perfection is both unhealthy and utterly flawed. It leads to an austere inhumane symmetry in which everything is finally where it should be and so nothing need ever change or move again. In short, it is only achieved in death.

So chow down an egg and bacon sarnie and bloomin enjoy the beautiful hypocrisy and imperfection of it

I eat meat. I have also rarely seen as much ill-informed twaddle and vitriol written about vegans as in the posts above.

"If it wasnt for meat eaters.. we wouldnt have farms... there would also be many animals that currently exist for food purposes that would be extinct.

#vaganismisstupid

Not only farm animals, huge numbers of insects rely on animals and without them they would die out as would all the creatures further up the food chain that consume them, then there would be no fertility to grow the crops and the huge amount of land that cant be cropped for various reasons. I have no problem with vegans until they spout the lie that its more sustainable"

Not going to argue as quite clearly you have a very set, if a little warped opinion.

Animal agriculture is unsustainable. That’s a fact. It produces more harmful toxins in the atmosphere than industry, car pollution combined. It takes far more land / water to grow crops to feed animals than it ever would to grow crops for human consumption. We’re literally chopping down the rain forest to grow crops on the land to feed these animals.

Let’s not even get into the health issues associated with eating carcinogens. Again all factually proved by science.

I’d also like to point out that I’m not vegan, but that these facts are all clearly out there if you’re actually willing to listen with an open mindset.

Unfortunately my personal belief is that it’s too late to save the planet, too late to reverse the situation that we find ourselves in and too late to reverse the damage we’ve done to the environment.

I do however respect a persons right to do as they please

Vegans get a lot of bad press thanks to the knobheads that shove their views and opinions down peoples throats. My ex was vegan and she was embarrassed to tell because of all the grief she would get. Seeing both sides of the lifestyles really opened my eyes, and both can be as bad as the other.

I frankly think its so sad and pathetic people argue and fight over food choices

According to google there are just over a billion cars on thhe road in the world and they on avaerage produce 4,6 tonnes of co2 a year, that doesnt off road vehicles or plant,so roughly 4.6 billion tonnes of greenhouse gases, whereas its claimed that animals produce around 1.7/2 billion tonnes, of course in reality that figure is higher due to fuel useage in food production, but it shows that animal production does not produce more grennhouse gas than cars, let adding in industry.

While some rainforest is being cut down and used for grazing most is being used for soya some goes into animal feed but soya is one of the main ingredients of meat replacements so non meat eaters are also responsible for its destruction.

As for water yes of course animals drink but vegetable growth requires vast amounts for irrigation something that isnt required for grass growth in most areas, there are huge areas that just arent suitable for growing of either cereals or vegetables due to soil types, excess rainfall or topography.

Where is all the fertility to grow tese crops going to come from, this will be ave to be provided by using either form of nitrogen fertiliser either AN from gas or urea from oil also vastly increased amounts of pesticides would be required to counter the increase of s and disease that the lack of a grass break in the rotation would cause, virtually everything we eat has waste/by products or products that arent deemed fit for human consumption, all this is recycled into animal feed, if not then thats more for land fill, there are thousands of species that rely on animals, insects that live on their dung or live of those that do, then we have larger vertebrates that rely on them, birds that eat those insects etc, without te OM that animals return to the soil it wouldnt take long to become dead, indeed their are scare stories about some soils having less than 100 harvests left due to animals taking less space and being replaced by crops which many are established by ploughing.

There are many more reasons to show why animals and us eating tem are far more sustainable that a vegan lifestyle. Once again I have no problem with people being vegan but its a lie to claim its environmentally friendly

I don't really care what other people eat, just don't tell me what to eat and we'll be fine.

I have the same feeling towards politics and religion.
