every year, they re release the christmas albums with the same songs we have known and loved for years.

but why did it stop??? why are songs these days that make the christmas charts not christmassy anymore ???

they are just (mostly) what could be released any time of the year.

we need new christmas songs writing

sorry ... like michael buble doing swing ... after watching him on xfactor tonight, thought his voice lacks range and power for the type of song he did.

also ... just how many NEW songs are on there .... i'll save you the trouble looking... ONE ... all the others are covers of what i am talking about

she tiptoed up the stairs

she stood beneeth the mistletoe

and combed her silken hair

when santa clause came down the flu

and caught her unawares

there hasnt been an origional christmas song in years full stop, I think the last one was peter kay as geraldine mcqeen

thats what i'm saying ... i reckon theres some big money out there for someone who can write, and get recorded and released, a cracking christmas song ... like wizzard or slade etc

That's just the thing, the current crop of recording artists are too busy trying to maintain a cool, street image to have fun, unlike the groups you mention who didn't take themselves seriously.

Plus the old groups were prolific song writers with great versatility and the ability to write songs for any occasion.

Well just take a look at the timing of X Factor. I`m not rubbishing the acts as I`ve never tuned in! Can`t stand the programme. But who`s going to try and issue a Christmas record when you`ll have sales of the latest X Factor winner to compete with! The Military Wives are having a bloody good go although this was never their intention, just to try and make a bit of money for the disabled servicemen.
