I'm on holiday in gorgeous Cornwall at the moment and am loving their names for various towns and villages - Ventongimps being the best so far which really made me chuckle (wanton gimps!)

Went past somewhere called Middle Wallop on the way here which was good too!

What weird or interesting place names have you discovered on your travels or live nearby??

Of course you could try North Wales: Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch

pronounced (no pauses between the following words and note the ch is usually sounded as hard not soft e,g, as in the ch in chasm):

clan fire pulch gwyn gich go ger uch win drawb uch clan t sillyo go go gok

meaning: Saint Mary's Church in the hollow of the white hazel near a rapid whirlpool and the Church of St. Tysilio of the red cave.

"I'm on holiday in gorgeous Cornwall at the moment and am loving their names for various towns and villages - Ventongimps being the best so far"

You know the sign to Ventongimps is right next to the one for Cocks? Always a holiday maker favourite.

The sign to Pussy in France always makes me smile.

But my favourite is to walk up rude hills...

As mentioned Brown Willy is the highest point in Cornwall.

Fan y Big is a 719m peak in the Brecon Beacons.

Best of all, Mount Wank in Germany. You can even celebrate getting to the top with a beer in the Wank Haus.
