ok I have a dvd player I want to use in my bedroom but tv only has one scart socket and I need that for my freeview box, but need a second scart socket to hook up the dvd player to the tv, any ideas as to how I can resolve this please?

I recently sold a 5 to 1 scart adaptor on ebay, should be able to pick one up in any electrical store... or ebay lol

You could if either your dvd or freeview have a scart input and output. Otherwise you need an adapter.

I've just done this myself. You run a scart lead from your TV to your freeview box, then a scart lead from your freeview box to your dvd. You will also need to connect the aerial output from your freeview box to your tv.

I'll pm you a link to a website where you tell it how many scart sockets your TV has and what other devices you want to connect to and it shows you a diagram of how to connect it.

Use a scart splitter - esentially it allows you to run 2 scarts into one output

One word of warning though, the basic ones are not intelligent and therefore don't switch between inputs, so if you have both lots of equipment turned on at the same time, you will have crosstalk, ie sound and vision from both sources.

The solution to this ? make sure one of the items is on standby - after all you cant watch a DVD and the Digi Box at the same time ..

In my experience, for anything to do with DVD's, Video Tapes and TV's you need a 12 year old.

If the DVD player has another scart the answer is almost certainly YES but most only have one.

freeview box only has one scart jack and so does dvd player so scart splitter it is just hope that sorts it

Or you could put the freeview box through the aerial input on the TV.

Some FV boxes dont have a modulated RF output they only have loopthrough, so that isn't gauranteed to work but even if it did, you are then watching a digital broadcast remodulated at RF level analogue, thus losing the decent quality picture.

Yes, but constant chopping and changing soon destroys the Scart socket and gives rise to all kinds of shit - they are not designed for constant pulling in and out
