Not body shaming before it's mentioned!!!

When you join, you pic your body type.

But what is average? Average for age? Average for height? What?

What the hell is "fabulous"?

Curvy? I state curvy on my profile, but it's subjective. I'm a bit like one of those country roads where you're driving along nicely and all of a sudden you hit a hairpin bend!!! No rhyme or reason for it, but it's there

I know it's just a guide and pictures help.

Could there be a different way of doing it? Or maybe get rid of it altogether?

I'm fabulous

Mainly because there was no choice suited for my body shape, being a size 14-16 I don't think I'm a BBW and small tits mean I'm defo not curvy!

There should be a chunky chick option x

I’ve seen fabulous used in various ways, sometimes for a very athletic lady, sometimes for a BBW, it’s all very subjective. Athletic seems to cover a variety of shapes for guys too, obviously working on the assumption that darts players are athletes too...

Essentially it’s just a subjective guide, all aspects of the fab profile are open to interpretation; age, height, relationship status, etc. Until you meet someone you just have to take these things with a pinch of salt.

The body type thing is pretty pointless you can't search for it and most people describe them selves in different ways too. I chose fabulous because large sounds manly.

I'm also curvy because I have huge curves but that would affend people too apparently because some say curvy isn't fat, urm well I'm certainly kicking out the curves here.

I just have full body pics and let people make up their own minds

I'm not athletic but would like to think I'm better than "average" which is such a shite word to describe anyone's body! Still the option I took though.

I chose ‘Average’ for my body type, as I didn’t think I was ‘slim’ or ‘athletic’, but know I’m not ‘curvy’. Should I have chosen ‘fabulous’ because that’s how I see myself? Yes, thinking about it, that’s what I am, so I’m going to change it! Thanks OP for making me reasses myself

From my experience on here - body size or type - and the description of it - is the one topic guaranteed to get hackles rising on here!

For women I feel it’s simple - if we listed our height and general dress size (yes, I know it differs in some shops, but most of us have an average size!) - then I feel that would enable people to picture that person’s size etc! However, some argue, possibly correctly, that many men still couldn’t ‘picture ‘ a lady based on that information - and it also doesn’t allow for the fact that some are ‘straight up and down’ and some have more hourglass figures - and none of those take breast size into account, which also alters a body’s proportion!

As to men - I’ve no idea what a 34 waist looks like?

We do need descriptions though - so I guess we should just be as honest as we feel we can - though I think there should be a ‘gym fit’ or ‘muscular’ body type added for men - as ‘athletic’ can mean a whole host of things!

I do think the most obvious answer, as you said OP, is to have a clear set of recent pictures which show the profile holders full body - pictures which are neither photoshopped or taken from ‘clever angles ‘! Perhaps it should be mandatory to submit a full frontal body pic, lightly clothed if you like, as a condition of membership. Yes there will be fakes, just like now, but it would stop all this bollocks..

True - but in over 4 years on here I’ve come to realise that a lot of people are ‘obscure ‘ on this topic - and about representing themselves honestly/accurately - and whereas it used to bother me tremendously - now I really don’t care!

I tend to meet guys like yourself, who work hard to keep fit and who are therefore not afraid to show what they look like! Ergo I don’t really have a problem!

Yes - my waist goes very distinctively in an out - hence I’d say I’m curvy! Do you have an issue with that?

Well since you're so keen on profiles describing themselves 'honestly/accurately', having a waist - as 99% of the female population do - hardly qualifies you as curvy. I'd say the general consensus is hourglass shaped...it's all about ratios. And that you are not

I think very few people can cleanly slot into any of the catergories. Everyone’s body is different, which is great! It should just be a blank box with a word limit. If you’re happy with describing your body as no more than ‘slim’ or ‘bbw’ then fine, if you’d like to write more extensive biological field notes, then scribble away.

A lot of people do this in their main descriptions anyway.

I think that’s clear from your pictures

I think athletic is a very easy one as it describes a certain mentality too. Curvy or average for a guy can be very misleading though as average for a man in his mid 40s is very different from a man in his 20s

Now you see - I’d say I am - but that you’re not! I do believe we’ve reached a stalemate Bella!

Tbh every guy I’ve met has been more than happy with my curvy body shape - I couldn’t actually give a fig what you think my body type is - any more than - I’m quite sure - you care what I think of yours!

I do think that this is the problem with vague definitions though, a word can mean subtly different things to different people even before others start getting misleading. The definitions are intended to allow others to help find the type of person that they’re looking for. If I’m looking for an athletic guy I expect someone to be either gym fit or toned - as in they’re physically active, fit and slim. To others that could mean something very different.

True - but in over 4 years on here I’ve come to realise that a lot of people are ‘obscure ‘ on this topic - and about representing themselves honestly/accurately - and whereas it used to bother me tremendously - now I really don’t care!

Yes - my waist goes very distinctively in an out - hence I’d say I’m curvy! Do you have an issue with that?

Well since you're so keen on profiles describing themselves 'honestly/accurately', having a waist - as 99% of the female population do - hardly qualifies you as curvy. I'd say the general consensus is hourglass shaped...it's all about ratios. And that you are not

"From my experience on here - body size or type - and the description of it - is the one topic guaranteed to get hackles rising on here!

For women I feel it’s simple - if we listed our height and general dress size (yes, I know it differs in some shops, but most of us have an average size!) - then I feel that would enable people to picture that person’s size etc! However, some argue, possibly correctly, that many men still couldn’t ‘picture ‘ a lady based on that information - and it also doesn’t allow for the fact that some are ‘straight up and down’ and some have more hourglass figures - and none of those take breast size into account, which also alters a body’s proportion!

As to men - I’ve no idea what a 34 waist looks like?

We do need descriptions though - so I guess we should just be as honest as we feel we can - though I think there should be a ‘gym fit’ or ‘muscular’ body type added for men - as ‘athletic’ can mean a whole host of things!

I do think the most obvious answer, as you said OP, is to have a clear set of recent pictures which show the profile holders full body - pictures which are neither photoshopped or taken from ‘clever angles ‘!
