During your fertile period you should experience a sticky mucus discharge similar to egg white. It helps the boys on their way

Meli of course there’d be men on the thread. To be honest I’m glad they are. They might learn something of interest or may even notice some of the signs in their partner. This may be helpful especially if they don’t use any contraception. Equally it could be useful if they’re trying to conceive

With each of my pregnancies I knew before my period was even missed, I didn’t need a test to tell me but only used them to confirm what I already knew.

I sometimes wish I hadn’t known so early as with some of my miscarriages. I would never have realised it was happening, I would have just thought it was a heavy, late period

Which is correct for anyone that has a 28 day cycle for those that don’t you SHOULD ovulate 14 days before your period. This is why it’s difficult to predict if you have irregular periods. The female reproductive system is an amazing thing

Very normal but when you have the Mirena coil it’s slightly different to the discharge you would normally get when ovulating. It causes the mucus to thicken to prevent the sperm moving through the cervix

Omg Seeside I’m not trying to get pregnant, quite the opposite. I really don’t need strips my body tells me when I’m fertile and when I ovulate. I’ve always used that as contraception when in a monogamous relationship

You’ve made me chuckle

Sorry. I'm use to ovulation talk from the donor site

"I use an app to track periods and symptoms which are irregular. But I know when I ovulate as I get a sharp pain low down on one side which lasts a minute.

Having PCOS I also feel cysts rupturing too, same feeling. "

The apps are a good tool for tracking especially when your periods are irregular. PCOS isn’t good at all, one of the many complicating factors of the female reproductive system xxx

Yes sometimes I have to stop want I’m doing but thankfully that’s not very often and never so severe that appendicitis is suspected. That must have been awful xxx

Luckily I've had the sterilisation and ablation so haven't had periods for a couple of years

But did have horrific ones, sore boobs, cramps, headaches and they sometimes lastest 2-3 weeks!!! Hence the reason for the op.

The only way I knew I was due on was the munchies the week leading up to it. Chocolate and crisps by the ton! And boobs used to swell and get sore.

The only thing I can't understand with women, is why friends and/or family's periods seem to coincide with each other. Any ideas??

"Ovulation occurs on day 14 of your cycle when your follicle stimulating hormones are low and progesterone is high

That’s a bit misleading and assumes everyone has a 28 day cycle

Sorry! Was only going on what I’ve been taught!

Which is correct for anyone that has a 28 day cycle for those that don’t you SHOULD ovulate 14 days before your period. This is why it’s difficult to predict if you have irregular periods. The female reproductive system is an amazing thing "

Not strictly true. The luteal phase (part between ovulation and getting your period) can vary but in an average 28 day cycle will be 14 days.

I ovulate around day 14-15 and my luteal phase is normally 17-19 days with an average cycle length of 31-33 days

Sadly around 1 in 4 known pregnancies ends in miscarriage but there are also people who miscarry without knowing they are pregnant. October 15th is International pregnancy and infant loss awareness day which culminates in a wave of light where people light a candle @ 7pm in remembrance. Most ladies go on to have a healthy pregnancy after miscarriage but sadly some of us become another statistic (1% of couples) and go onto have recurrent losses.

Limbo

I often knew - due to the sharp pain on one side (also known as 'mittelschmerz' - middle pain) and the clear, stretchy 'egg white' mucus. But I've also used an ovulation microscope in the past which uses your dried saliva, displaying a fern pattern on the slide a few days ahead of ovulation when oestrogen increases. It's such a simple and easy device to identify peak fertility.
