Sadly thats true. When we first joined many years ago (old profile) it was great for regular meets and people wanting some fun and naughtiness. Not sure what changed but it's not the same at all. Too many timewasters and pic hunters now.

I've been on and off here for 5 years and all I can say is that it has peaks and troughs and probably always will. It gets worse in the summer holidays then picks up around September when the kids are back in school.

I’ve been off and on here for nearly 10 years and I’m back after a 3 year absence. It’s early days for me to say if anything as changed regarding people on here, but one thing that has changed is the amount of pics being used with filters on. Personally I think these pics shouldn’t be allowed, what does everybody else think??

Isn't the beauty of life that we are not all the same and everyone can take out of this site the experience they choose?

There are many options on here for many different people and as such should all be able to co-exist with whatever makes us happy as individuals?

Personally I don't want to be labelled or put in a box as to how I should or should not behave on this site.

You may find that some singles get together, become couples who's play evolves into something else.

Also, why do some couples need 3 profiles, one single person one each plus a couples one? Can't get that at all

In all seriousness - as a newbie round here, and as someone who has led quite the sheltered life (ahhh...bless) - how would people define what a 'swinger' is?

Can a single person be a swinger? Does it have to be couples? Or just involve a couple? Or is it more just a state of mind - and if so, what *is* that state of mind?

Apologies if these questions are coming off a little gauche - but I'm genuinely curious to learn

It’s the way of the internet....

10 years ago swinging was underground. Now you have news show and newspapers broadcasting and publishing stories about swinging... you have people telling friends and family they are swingers.

It used to be taboo, now it’s just mainstream...

Also the amount of people promoting clubs have gone through the roof... the amount of messages I get on another website about meeting at a club is astonishing... I always answer I’ll go if you pay my entrance fee...

I think if a golf club is hijacked by people who are only interested in snooker, such that the golfers become the minority and it ceases to be recogisable as a golf club, I feel it’s a bit harsh to expect the original members to leave if they don’t like. Surely the snooker people could have started their own club, instead of jumping on someone else’s bandwagon and saying the golf people can leave if they don’t like that it changed from golf to snooker?

Now to relate Clem’s analogy to whether Fab is a swingers site, sex site or social media site. The OP does not say that Fab used to be a swingers site and is now a sex site. He says it used to be a sex site and is now a social media site. I personally am not entirely sure what it used to be. We joined 3 and a half years ago thinking it was a swingers site, but discovered that single men came here in droves looking for easy sex, and because of the sheer numbers of these men, quite literally outnumbered the swingers. As a result it became a sex site.

When we joined we had naiively assumed that a site with ‘swinger’ in the name was a good place to find single men who were interested in swinging. That being said, we have found our little niche of swinging amongst the confusion, so we’re quite happy, and our experience of the site has not changed in the time we’ve been here. But in an ideal world I would prefer a swingers site, or at least more clarity within the site as to whether people use Fab as a swingers site or a sex hookup site (or both). Social media site? I like the forums so all good there!

What a lot of people seem to forget is that regardless as to your motives or what you want from this site- there are people involved. All unique and not possibly wanting the same things as you

I don't see anything social about Facebook: Media yes- for pictures of your dinner, your cat or another bloody selfie for everyone to comment on.

This site is interaction in one form or another and yes it is social and always has been.

As for change:- the longer something is around the more people will find out about it- hence an increase in members. There is the same ratio of single guys to couples as there was in 2009

Take from this site what you want, and if you're not getting that then maybe it's not the site for you- plenty of other sites out there. Spread your wings and fly baby!

I basically agree with everything this poster has said and used to post similar "complaints" and observations......and was regularly rounded upon with the usual "go away and form your own club" refrain.

Will this thread change anything, unfortunately I don't think so.

Speaking as somebody whose only been here for about a year, we can certainly respect the opinions from somebody has been here for almost a decade.

I'd imagine you probably right in regards to ratios as this is a pretty common theme on other forums/sites to. The demographic break-down usually remains constant, only the numbers change...

We're pretty happy about the way things are and can find our way around here. We do think however, a one-off fee of around £30 might deter a good number of the accounts by, that many describe as time wasters being created. That is just our view in reducing the single most complained about reoccurring issue, but other than that, we'd change nothing.
